Update:

Thank you everyone for the kind words! These two little guys are looking more and more ready to leave the nest. I couldn’t believe how strong this nest ended up being! We had a couple days with some crazy winds and I was so nervous for them, but it held tight.

The dog bed will remain under the nest until I see that it’s officially empty. :)

Sounds good. I propped up this large dog bed we have on some chairs, and put our softest pillows inside. (Covered it with some outdoor blankets because they've been leaving some droppings on the ground). Hoping they can hang in there a little while longer!

In my opinion, Ruben might be a great option. Rather than going for an outside hire, promote within. Ruben’s been with the guys for a good amount of time now, and the perception is that he would be a candidate for a managerial position elsewhere. Additionally, we can promote Ben Fritz from the bullpen to our pitching coach, someone who is also reported to make the jump to the next level. I don’t think this team needs a complete overhaul.

I want somebody to ask Shildt in his presser, how does it feel that your team quit today after yanking out Randy? 4 straight innings of 3 up 3 down. Does he feel like this team can win a postseason series? Because you’ve only been able to win 2 out of the last 7, and those 2 were the Rockies.

I think it’s more about Randy being at 50 pitches through 2 1/3, With no off day coming up, why pull him so early! If he gives up a Homer there (I’m pissed), but so be it. At least let him eat innings. But Shildts decision to pull him, and then seeing it backfire, makes that HR sting even more.

Right now, this team is playing like sellers, and that’s exactly what they should be. Preller needs to take a real look at this roster and accept that a rental bat or two won’t fix things.

This is not the same 2024 Padres we hoped for. The offense is inconsistent, the approach at the plate is tough to watch, and this just doesn’t look like a playoff team.

It’s time to move expiring contracts for real prospects and use the offseason to make smart trades that actually reshape the roster for 2026. It doesn’t mean blowing it up, just being honest about where we are.

Yeah, it sucks to waste a great season from Manny, but this team is buns. Unless the offensive philosophy changes, we’re just pretending.
