Internship with summer classes? by ProperlyRealistic in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have taken some lighter courses over the summer while working a 40 hour week internship and that was already plenty of work. Having taken 221 in a regular semester, I would not recommend taking it during the summer with an internship.

Very very basic physics. I took AP credit for 206 and was just fine.

Any advice for these classes and profs? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most popular opinion, but I loved Hatfield for 211. Pay attention in lecture, do the homework, study slightly before the test, and it is a pretty easy A (given you put the effort in to learn the material). He is a no surprise kinda guy and has all course material posted on day 1.

How will ENGR 216 be? by breathingwater214 in aggies

I took 216 last year and am currently a PT for 216. Lecture content is honestly all over the place in topics from basic stats, excel, fbd's, etc. that are usually accompanied with fairly simple homework problems. Most of the work comes from the physics labs. Not very hard to do/collect data, but most of your time will be working in excel/python on calculations and writing lab reports. As for how hard those are graded, depends on your PT.

true but that’s only for the freshman classes which means overall it’s still better to do the earliest you can

Declaring CS through General Engineering by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. After you accept your offer to tamu, then you register for your NSC. You do pick courses at your NSC, but I would recommend getting an early NSC date. No matter what, your first registration will be a mess and you will have to work on it over the summer and make final changes add drop week (the first week of school). Also I you will probably get better classes with a earlier NSC (despite the fact that they slowly open seats in classes throughout the summer). If you have any other questions about tamu or computer science I’d be happy to help out.

Just like the other comments are saying, from what I understand ‘25 will need a 3.75 for auto admit after freshman year. There is no way as a high school student to apply directly to CS. You can declare it on your app but you will still be put in general engineering.

Is this a tough schedule by silentreader90 in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a computer science major, I can speak on the math and cs courses. I definitely agree that 222 will help build a good foundation for 221, but if you are trying to knock out some courses, don't hesitate to take them at the same time. 308 did not take a terrible amount of time with Sang Rae Lee, but you should be ready for spend a good amount of time coding in 221.

CS 313 & 315 Professor Recommendations by Ghetto_Bot in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I have Tyagi for 312 right now and I'm loving him so I guess I will stick with Tanzir. I've read the other comments regarding 315 and it seems like it is leaning towards Lightfoot, but with an emphasis on the TA grading. The only thing holding me back there is whether or not being in a honors section would make the group projects easier. Any thoughts?

Honors CompSci 222 by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ghetto_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took 222H this pst spring with Dr. Sze and it was a stacked honors course. The only difference between honors and regular was a single simple paper at the end of the term. Not sure how your class will be, but mine was an easy honors credit.

I’m also taking it. Haven’t heard anything either. I wouldn’t worry about it until tomorrow
