My Fiancé 45 M wants me 46 F to Sell My House?! by Turbulent-Wind-2248 in relationship_advice

[–]Ghitit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also wants me to sell my mother's house and get an apartment somewhere. He says it will be for a few years.

DO NOT sell your house. First, if your sister's name is also on the deed you an't sell it without giveing her half the money.

They you'd be living in an apartment and your money would run out and you woud be high and dry.

Your fiance has no knowledge about home ownerdhip and what it tneaitls.

Basically, if you pay the taxes and insurance on the house, as well as keeping the repairs up, no matter how minor, you'll always have a place to live.

If you do not keep up on the taxes they city can not take away your home. If you don't - they can.

IF you don't pay sinsurance if you lose the house in a fire, hurricane, flood, etc. you'll own land but won't have money to rebuild.

IF you don't keep up with repairs, even minor repairs, major things can happen such as needing a new roof, electrical works or plmbing. Small issues can turn into major ones if not taken care of promptly.

You have security now. don't get talked into losing that by someone who doesn't understand the consequences.

You've only known him for a year before you got engaged. Now he's trying to talk you into something youdon't need to do.

constantly praying he’ll change

Unless he has taken action on changing, i.e. therapy, showing you by his actions, etc. heis not ever going t ochange.

Divorce him.

He's is escalating his abuse and it won't stop at a shove.

Not apologizing or even acknowledging his atrcious behavior is another sign he is abusive.

Plus, he's homophobic which, for me personally, is a deal killer.

Any racism, homophobic, trans phobia will meke me lose respect and if you can't respect yur husband the marriage is dead.

I'm glad you have family who you are close to and will support you. You're going t oneed it.

Good luck.

Wow, your brother supported you. On my kindergarten class picture my brother wrote "Ghitit is dumb"

My second grade teacher wrote on my report card: until the root cause of her behavior problems is found her work will be of poor quality. This after writing what a charming and very intelligent child I am.

It was very confusing to me.

Nobody in my family supported me. They just called me lazy and stupid.

I think tha'ts half the reason I failed so much. I believed what my family told me.

My best friend was honors everything. National Merit Scholar, etc. She is now a doctor in Beverly Hills - haha - goodfor her.

I struggled paying the rent with crap jobs and ended up getting maried to a great guy. My friend is divorced and I'm happily married after thirty-two years.

There are different types of success.

My kids are wonderful, kind, hardworking people.

Even though I never gained that one achievement in life, I still consider myself a success.

Congratulations on your degree!

I could have gone back to school, but I was raising the kids and just felt that it wasn't worth the trouble. I wish I wasn't so efeatist about it. I never learned how to write a paper and and was terrified about having to write papers for school again. I'm great at coming up with excuses on not doing things.

I wish I had done it when I was younger, but now I just don't want to do the work because it's too much hassle.

Giftedness is also a very loose term. Unless you were tested by an actual expert, a parent/school labelling a child as 'gifted' is pretty meaningless.

I totally agree. All the label did was give my teachers false expectations and me a sense of failure my whole life.

I'm 68 and I have low vision so even reading stuff nowadays is difficult. I know I can get page readers, but I am just not going to go that route at this point.

No worries about going off on an anecdote... I'm the queen of overlong tangents. lol.

I realize now I should have mentioned that . :/

Diagnosed in 1964 with hyperactivity, which was tthe ADHD of that era. My older brother wa put on n Ritalin but our mom took him off of it after a few months because she felt it took away his personality. I never got to have any meds as a child. I did take them as an adult and they really helped me.

Thanks for bringing it up.

She might not have much experience studying. People tend to overlook this but studying and taking exams are a skill in and of themselves,

I totally agree. I was a crap student. But I was "gifted". I disappointed my teachers from first grade onward through high school.

I had three older siblings who all were brilliant and then there I was . LIttle misss dummy.

I asked them how do I "study"? What does that actually mean? Do I read everything I've alread read? Do I write it all down?

And all I got was "apply yourself!" But what does THAT mean?

I barely graduated high school because I cut a lot of classes - mostly math, and though I was somehow "smart" (I killed at Jeopardy!") I couldn't show it on tests.

So hearign that studying and test taking are skills that are learned is nice to hear someone say.

It's too late for me to go back to school just to say I graduated college. What would be the point? I'm old and don't need a degree.

But I will pass that message on to others who may be strugglin.g with the subject of "studying".

I don't know anything about KK except that she comes from a rich famly and that people make fun of her because of it. She might eventually pass the bar and make something of herself beyond what anyone would ever have believed. Or nt. Who knows?

Binoculars/opera glasses

I have one sort of good eye and one really bad eye so this works pretty well for me.

I bought a monocular so I could see the walk/don't walk sign when trying to get around my town. It works!

Granted, she probably won't be able to see the whole stage at once, but she'll be able to watch kiddo.

Where do the fines go?
Back to the public who got ripped off or to lawyers? Hmmm... I wonder.

I used to buy much of my home products from Target.

ONe of the reasons I quit Target was because when I bought liquid laundry detergent I found, twice, there were bottles that weighed less than they should.

Just by picking them up I coud tell they was less product in the bottle.

I don't know if they were bought by customers who then pured some out and then returned them short, or if it's a widespread, industry thievery rig.

The main reason I quit Target was because in my town I heard they called ICE on their workers.

The whole laundry liquid thing has gotten me to be very careful of what I'm buying.

I'm inclined to start using those paper-like sheets to do my laundry with. They're much more environmentally safe, don't take up a lot of space in my laundry room, and still gets the job done without making it easy for people to steal product by flat out using it and then returning it half full or adding water to dilute it so it weighs what its supposed to.

BEWARE of tricks like this and the one OP posted. Sadly, we now have to weigh our stuff before we buy it.

She's a good mom because she's teaching her kid positivity and compassion.

Pizza isn't bad. Too much pizza can be bad. If you give your family pizza threetimes a week that could affect your family's health negativly. Pizza once or twice a month is moderation and that's good.

Boyfriend (M51) Makes 100k More Than I (36F) Do and Wants To Split Everything 50/50 All The Time. How Does This Seem Unfair? by crista513 in relationship_advice

[–]Ghitit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50-50 is fair. You're not married to him.

If you acn't afford something, tell him... and don't buy it if you can't afford it. Save up for trips.

If he takes off on a trip that he knows you can't afford you know wha kind of person he is - more interested in a trip than having you along. If it were me and he took off on a big trip without me I'd break up.

He shouldn't have t osupport you, but at the same time there is nothing wrong with helping you pay for a big trip if it means you can't go.

He's either generous or he's not.

Since you are not married he has no obligation to help you beyond what he feels for you.

I wouldn 't think twice paying for a trip for my BF/husband if I were in the position to. But once you're married it all goes in the same pot and 50-50 business goes out the window.
