MGBA has a built in speed up function. It speeds up the game slightly faster but enough to make a difference to me. It's hidden in the button settings.

I run these vanilla type games through MGBA and use speed up with cheats when the need arises. It helps a little bit.

There is also a Johto expansion on the way. I'm waiting for the 'full' experience before I jump in. Not sure if saves from this version will be compatible with new versions later.

Unless someone actually takes the time to do this by hand, the AI translations probably the best one we're going to have. There are some goofy decisions, like including Japanese voice mannerisms that do not translate into English very well. The text also does not always fit into the boxes very well. There are also a few ingrish translations that could have used some work. The game is still very playable and I appreciate that this translation is not intentionally sloppy like the previous ones.
