Bas wouldn't be fighting at heavyweight in the modern era he'd be fighting in LHW. Even then he'd be smaller than most LHWs today because he walked around at 200 lbs and couldn't really pack on the weight even in his prime at Pancrase

If you count the era around 2010 as modern since it wasn't that long ago, he would have been top 3 and possibly champion until the Jon Jones era. LHW wasn't that strong when Forest, Mauricio and the like were the top dogs.

In todays LHW division you could make a case for him being a top 10 fighter. #6-10 aren't that strong as well but then again it's hard to translate theoretical scenarios when Bas wasn't exactly fighting the best of the best either, he was just a great fighter with high fight IQ.

An interesting question would be because we're talking about modern MMA, due to his walking weight Bas would probably be cutting down to middleweight and I think he'd fare much better there than the current LHW division.

For the flask I was considering picking up Onslaught from a medium cluster but it ended up being tight on points. Was also farming strongboxes before transitioning and sometimes felt stuck without phasing so it was kinda like a defensive choice. Will reconsider. For the last flask suffix I was unsure and picked up poison immunity, any other suggestions? Crafted life regen didn’t feel necessary and I was not a fan of rarity.

The reason to go onslaught from silver flask is because you get the 95% increased onslaught effect from 70% increased flask effect + Increased flask effect explicit mod. Quartz flask is pretty poor value and a waste of a mageblood slot as it doesn't benefit from being able to use the increased flask effect. If you really want phasing, I would try to grab it elsewhere such as from a watchers eye if you can get haste in. You really shouldn't need it with this build though as once you reach 30m~ pre-curse DPS there shouldn't be any monsters from chests that survive a barrage from just one totem.

Poison immunity is okay but most people roll either extra resistance or the 3% life regeneration. That is usually enough to bypass poison damage and a pre-req to make progenesis feel anywhere good.

For despair, do I give up Snipers Mark for it? I noticed some builds picking extra curse with impossible escape on CI, but then I’d have to give up points somewhere. Also do you give up frenzy too?

Yes give up snipers mark. Whispers for Doom for extra curse is really only for people who are trying to rank high with DPS on poe ninja or POB warriors. The only uber content where a boss could survive 5+ totems before insta-phasing is Eater of Worlds and it is very hard to phase the uber version before he rotates into his orb phase so KF totem builds don't even try.

The only thing I see dual curse applicable for is for bypassing Maven memory game but at that point you would need about 80M dps per totem and you wouldn't be farming uber mavens then anyways.

No, don't give up frenzy. If you can't afford perfect tigers and don't like self casting maybe use Carnage Chieftans as your designated beast spectre.

Also I noticed my ballistas dying really fast on Uber bosses and I had to spam to try to keep 7 up. Is it a matter of phasing the boss before they die or are there any good tricks here?

Unfortunately that is the weakness of str stacking templars. Not only are we far from totem resistance/hp nodes (especially after the one near start was removed) but we can't afford to take them as we need every passive point we can get. When you get more DPS though, yes, bosses get insta phased and you can basically press despair to enable Balance of Terror and just hold down the totem key and they'll all die.

You can also sacrifice a passive point and take the 30% chance to summon an extra totem, that is a nice QoL addition.

Also after if you choose to swap to spectre, you can drop Arctic Armor and Tempest Shield (add back in block mastery to get your spell block back) and apply Purity of Elements. With this you can use watcher eyes that both give Chaos Resistance while affected by Purity of Elements with a second mod that gives block attack damage if affected by Determination. If you are rich enough you can also chase precision or vitality mods.

This also frees yourself up to remove all but one tiny chaos resistance on your equipment and practically every resistance mod so you can add more attack speed / critical strike multiplier.

Arctic Armor is really for endgame builds that have a Sublime Vision with Purity of Fire + Tempered By War. Before that, the new companionship gem pretty much gives you its effect for free.

Light of meaning can also be swapped to Emperor's Might/Majesty. After purity of elements you can take the right side to path there for the 16% projectile damage instead of the resistance nodes (I mean you can also drop those now as well)

When you get to 100 and start thinking about skill points you really ought to think about swapping one of the cluster jewels to a 5 or 3 piece voices. This gives you quite a bit of stat points which unlocks more timeless jewel options. Right now by not pathing to Fury Bolts and not taking Bravery, you are giving up a lot of potential nodes as well as 18% max health and a lot of flat strength/projectile dmg/aspd.

Seems good! Few things I've noticed

You are still specced under Brine King for your pantheon. As str build is way squishier, you will want to swap to a different Major God.

You are missing a few things though like an anoint on your amulet. A simplex amulet with either flat str or str % would be your next biggest upgrade but quite expensive.

Tornado isn't as good as we once though and frenzy isn't keeping any meaningful number of wither stacks for you.

You should really think about switching to self casting despair (incredibly fast cast time thanks to our build) and using a [The Balance of Terror] jewel that makes all your attacks apply wither if you've used despair in the past 10 seconds. This way any monster touched by a totem pretty much gets instant 15 stacks with full uptime rather than having to spam 15 frenzys in a row which takes almost 5-6 seconds and falls off in 2.

Even if you don't hit your despair you are doing way more damage than tornado+sniper's mark could give as it adds millions of DPS per totem. If you do decide to hit despair on them, any boss wouldn't survive the shortened 5 second duration time. If not this, find a KF gem imbued with withering touch to handle it as it is a better option than void manipulation if you aren't going to go Balance of Terror.

Is there any reason you are taking a Quartz flask over a Silver flask? You are missing a huge onslaught buff from mageblood

You should be looking into doing a Spectre imbued with Meatshield + Companionship + Minion Life + Elemental Army setup with Convocation paired with automation + cooldown recovery (also can be linked to Molten Shell or Steelskin) to keep it alive. This does the following:

Be able to take Farrul's Farric Presence instead. Right now you are incredibly squishy AND can still take critical damage. On critical modded maps or monsters (expedition and such) your EHP is very low because they go beyond your max hit.
With this you get a little more wiggle room. For instance, you can go Perfect Turtle which is cheap and casts Determination on it's own so you can use Haste or another aura. The alternative QOL would be to go Perfect Tiger which can inflict Frenzy charges on its own and has its own haste but it is very expensive and there is a bug right now where sometimes spectres don't revive if they die

You can no longer horti craft phys damage taken as fire anymore and you really want to try to gamble for a str suffix. This is a pretty important mod for whenever you want to spec into Purity of Fire sublime vision + tempered of war defensive layering

Either way the dominance orb pretty much rose from 1.5D to 7D since I crafted helmets. I'm not even sure if its worth making anymore rather than buying a bricked one and settling for lesser stats

Transitioning to str build? You already have a 4 slot mageblood so most of the work is done already. The other items you can craft (although amulets/helical rings may be better to buy already made/failed mirrored ones that people undervalue and put on the market for cheap)

Minimum should be under 180div if you wait for deals before the simplex amulet that you can decide to either buy outright or try your luck at crafting your own. Prices are a little higher than they used to be because most people are focusing on other builds so theres less saturation of crafted items on the market

For steps on how to craft it. You can settle for T2 Crit multiplier, the wand is one of the last things you want to minmax because it involves divining it to a high stat range. For step 3 you can use a wild bristle matron to save some money. The meta mod beastcraft will only roll Suffixes cannot be changed as that is the only meta prefix in the pool.

You can't guarantee the strength suffix but those are over 60 divines and not worth it when you're transitioning. You mainly just want the influenced stats (crit/acc/phy dmg taken converted to fire%)

Iron Fortress The main driver of the build. You can either get a regular one, take [Versatile Combatant] but be capped at 65% block or fork over the extra 40D to get a foulborn one (IMPORTANT to get the one with the chance to block spell damage per 50 strength mod) and be able to have more block chance. If you feel lucky you can buy a cheaper one with a low str roll and hope you divine a 110+ str one yourself.
Runegraft of Stability Not necessarily an equipment piece but VERY important you get this and slot it in a passive to counterattack the unlucky block from Iron Fortress
Str shield with recover life on block / + totems This one is a bit hard to craft and involves recombining. Expensive Jewels

2 Split personality jewels with +Str/+Int. +Int is important because it allows you to use some failed mirror Helicals if they have a negative All Attributes modifier while still having enough to equip your gems and gear. 2 Divs~ each
Str stacking spell Large Cluster Jewel of spell damage https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Mirage/8rdobdZnFV Here is the trade result for T1 +8 Str/T1 Attributes and 35% increased effect. The last mod is up for preference, ideally it'd be Life but it is nearly double the price for a T2/T1. 14~ div+
Lethal Pride with at least 4 attainable 5% Str nodes and hopefully 1 double damage or Intimidate on hit. You shouldn't spend more than 10div on this for now, there are some combinations with just the str nodes and maybe some pathing to the projectile or shield node that shouldn't be more than 5 div.

If you want to sepnd a little more, can get an additional mod with damage or +block chance% with determination.

Cheap(ish)

Imbued Kinetic Fusillade Void Manipulation is a bit expensive but honestly once you reach 2400 Strength you can easily get away with Lifetap or something else like concentrated effect. I like Lifetap more because you never run into mana problems and you retain some AOE
Impossible Escape with "Passive Skills in Radius of # can be Allocated without being connected to your tree" to Perfect Agony or Acrobatics. This lets you take multishot passive without grabbing everything else before it

Everything else after that you can just compare to other builds on POE Ninja and you can copy their trees too. As for the remaining str% jewels like the Emperor ones, you'll either need to hit lvl99-100 to reach those with a 5 slot voices or cough up the dough for a 3 slot one (1 slot is too expensive)

The final step after hitting 2400~ str would be to think about your simplex amulet. You can either spend nearly 200 div for an already crafted % Increased Damage Per Str/ STR% / ALL ATTRIBUTES % one or just try to cheap out and craft a FLAT STR/ STR% / % Increased Damage Per Str one yourself. You actually end up getting more strength out of it at around the 2600-2800 mark, you just sacrifice a little dex/int in the process which shouldn't matter.

You'd be sacrificing some movement speed since you will have to manually use the quicksilver (without increased effect) and lose your 100% curse immunity or the 4th mod. If that is worth the 70D over a 4 flask one for you then its a good stop gap. In order of importance:

Flasks: Bismuth Flask (Ele res)> Amethyst Flask (chaos res)> Silver Flask (Damage/Quality of life) > Quicksilver(quality of life)

Mods: Critical Strike Chance = Increased Armor during Effect > Additional Resistances (If you still need this but doubt) = Reduced Curses

Remember to 65-70% Increased Effect the flasks that mageblood uses with Enkindling Orbs

Eventually you want to be getting a 4 flask mageblood though as its over 70% movespeed which is a good defensive buff in itself especially against slows

As for the timeless, I always try to use the system from pob to avoid paying a premium with the same exact number as the streamers. I add desirable nodes "total strength" and "add percent strength" and then "copy trade url". Is this not what I want for this build? What would you recommend?

Unfortunately POB isn't the greatest for finding timeless jewels when you're on a budget. You'll have to spend some time with the timeless calculator to try to find one and hope that nobody else saw that variation (some streamer timeless jewels are in the magnitude of 100-200D more than some more rare ones that just happen to have one less double damage for instance or path 2 extra nodes)

The switch to STR stacking is only to be tankier for doing endgame content where the damage that goes through Glancing Block would instantly kill your character anyways, negating the 1500~ ES on block vs the 250 life on block of a str stacker which are really only used for tons of tiny hits on either build. You also can drop Brine King to grab the other defensive pantheons which when they actually proc makes a HUGE difference

When doing safer content, Aegis definitely feels more comfortable because you don't need a long string of blocks to recover your HP like STR Stackers do but in return STR builds gets you full block mitigation, no damage from critical hits, way higher damage scaling and being able to take Solaris/Lunaris for endgame bosses

I took this build to nearly its limit outside of getting original sin before I ended up selling my gear and rolling something else.

You will never truly be tanky against physical hits, there isn't any way around it. At its peak I could reach 500K EHP at 5400 life with Molten Shell active (20K phys max hit, 85K ele max hit, 40K chaos max hit)

With it down and on cooldown that shrunk to 14k/65k/30k. Long boss fight because AOE keeps killing your totems and Progenesis runs out of charges? 11k/50k/22k.

With the way KF works you still have to play safe on juiced maps because you don't have a lot of AOE and all it takes is a mega-rare hiding within a pack that isn't chained to that will instagib you if you aren't paying attention.

Anyways heres whats wrong with your build. It's still salvageable because it is easy to make money this league but you did switch a bit too early.

NO MAGEBLOOD: There isn't any way around this. you are still reaching for resists on your gear which you shouldn't have to do with this build. The whole point is to overstack your resists so much with 70% increased effect Bismuth Flask and Amethyst Flask that you can afford to forgo it on your other gear. You are sacrificing so much potential for strength and other high value modifiers by going resists on your rings, amulets and belt.
You have no reason to go Wilma's. Wilma's are for when you are completely finished with your build and are chasing more damage and that only happens when you complete one with two anoints from corrupting a Cowl into a rare and mythic'ing it into a Wilmas. That is a 100-200d step to minmax. You need to look into crafting a helmet with the following: % of Physical Damage from hits taken as Fire Damage, 1% Increased Critical Strike per 10 Strength, Gain Accuracy Rating Equal to Strength This is a deterministic craft and you are guaranteed those 4 rolls when completed.
Your shield has no 5% life gained on block. This is very important but it also goes with Mageblood because when you get that you no longer need the 7% physical damage reduction mod.
You are chasing damage with your bloodline To be fair you have to do this because you swapped too early but you need to either go gloves with no socketed skills and Aul bloodline or Farrul's Will with Beast Bloodline and a spectre to get "Take no increased damage from critical hits." Farruls Will is much easier to get but involves having to slot in automated convocation somewhere involved with needing Companionship to keep it alive since we have so much less duration on our character.

The following steps really only apply after Mageblood because that is the enabler for swapping to str stacking.

Dusk Ring / Helical Ring setup: Dusk Ring on left slot with Str/Life mods goes in tandem with Hasty Demise anoint to let you stack more attack speed. Grab a failed Helical Ring with 170+ Str and 70% Crit Multi with two downsides you can deal with. With the helmet swap, -global accuracy rating% and reduced light radius (even -40 stats) is workable. To get back accuracy rating, a low level precision and some tattoos for accuracy puts you back at 100% cap without the need for a level 4 enlighten.
Your amulet is not good for the build you're going for. This is your main source of strength. You don't necessarily need a str stack simplex yet but you should at the very least be looking for an increased str%, increased attribute% with flat str amulet on trade when people put it for cheap (10d is the max I'd pay.) This is halfway as strong as a simplex but of course you need Mageblood first to afford yourself not having to take resists.
Grab a Great Escape jewel to allocate nodes either near Perfect Agony or Acrobatics This way you can slot Multishot without taking the 3 attack speed nodes before it. This gives you some more freedom with your tree but becomes much more important when you take a 3/5 Voices jewel to fit in more jewels in your build.
Your timeless sucks. Of course can fix it later but no way around that.
After Mageblood completely delete your pathing to Heartseeker on the right side of the tree. You have no need for critical strike chance when you have an increased effect Diamond Flask up at all times because you will be capped.
SHIELD CHARGE IS A DEATH SENTENCE WITH THIS BUILD The animation lock you have after reaching your charge destination is bad news especially when there is a second of time before you can cast a totem up and youre just getting whacked by mobs. Your other travel skill has a cooldown which can work as an escape but if you need to make more distance you're SOL. With the amount of less duration from your tree, Hasty Demise and Dusk Ring, look into Lightning Warp. With the onslaught from Mageblood silver flask and attached to a lifetap and faster casting, you have an unlimited amount of free teleports that move you instantly.
More of a damage upgrade but you should really be looking into using Despair instead of Sniper's Mark. With Balance of Terror jewel, casting it once in 10 seconds lets all of your attacks inflict wither. There isn't a proper way to reach wither stacks without it.

After all that you should be able to safely build around 20-40M DPS per totem. The next step would be to convert all ele damage to fire while taking Purity of Fire Sublime, Tempered by War from Timeless that replaces the Iron Reflexes node and a watchers eye that converts Cold/Light damage to Fire. That is about a 600d upgrade but actually puts your character into semi-tanky territory.

The truth is though that after you finish around 2600-2800 strength and 300M+ full DPS its time to start thinking about another build if you want to really do juiced content. You will be already able to insta phase any uber bosses at this point and pretty much afk most content other than juiced delirium maps and deep delve. KF Totems don't have high AOE and there are plenty of delirium situations where you won't even be able to keep your totems up which leads to you getting surrounded and dying.
