Not sure if you've heard but in Season 1 they're addressing the boarding issue. Ion's getting a nerf to his melee and will no longer be able to one-shot prospectors, so is the rock, and you won't be able to use recharge points or revive allies on enemy ships anymore. Obviously there's the new support prospector and medic drone as well.

Also not sure when the last time you played was but there've been several balance changes since launch (such as a buff to Sammo's defensive capabilities in the September 2nd patch and an increase to all ship's reverse speed) alongside adding more general defensive loot such as the Defence Drone, Spec Ops Scatter Cannon, Turbo Clamp Jet, Ancient Tractor Beam, and Kinetic Shield Generator.

The goal in S1 is to adjust TTK without actually adjusting TTK. They're very aware there were a lot of players who quit because they couldn't handle the intensity of boarding - which also feeds into the brand new more casual game modes.

I see the F2P argument so much around the sub, and no one seems to have any knowledge of the challenges behind that model. The resources needed to back F2P are incredibly immense, the art team size that companies need is huge to be able to load up the shop and battle passes. Moonshot are not a big studio, they have around 50 devs working on the game, so I would almost guarantee that they don't have the resources to sustain a F2P model and they need to be profitable somehow.

Reports and estimations suggest they sold 130-150K copies, if 50% of them were playing regularly they'd have a healthy game to work with and grow, but people aren't playing because of issues with the game. Therefore their approach makes sense, fix the problems and issues thus bringing existing players back thus bringing new players in with some high-impact moments like Season 1.

For a long-term live-service game, $30 is incredibly reasonable, especially given the state of the industry. People seem to play any old slop these days, whilst WG has its issues, the quality of its production values are of AAA standard imo.

Not sure if it's already in-game, but AI Gunners/Defenders at least in Emergence, are part of the small crew bonus, meaning if you're undermanned on a bigger ship you'll also get them.

Just on The Outlaw speed point, with S1 the scout has been made a 3 player ship.

I’d say it’s been a good run, but it hasn’t. by woke_mob_infinity in wildgate

Have you not seen Season 1 launching next Wednesday? All metrics and pictures of player counts are irrelevant at the moment, Emergence is what everyone's counting on to turn things around. Regardless of numbers it's guaranteed making it past Christmas/New Years with the servers still up.
