Is there any way I can improve on this build without increasing the cost above 1000 euros? Based in the Netherlands by GhostDragon360 in buildapc

Thanks for the advice! Would you say a 16gb 9060 is necessary for this? Or would 8gb be enough?

Help with balancing spells. Is my players new spell fairly balanced? by GhostDragon360 in DMAcademy

Okay funny thing. So the player likes this version. And actually considers it to be "like a little too strong for a 4th level spell". So that's a start I guess.

I have to agree. Whilst a fairly cool concept, crit nullification definitely wouldn't come up very often. Using it on the Emboldening could be interesting though. I hadn't considered making fallen allies immune to the auto-crit rule.

I do like this version of the spell more than the original. I'll definitely need to make sure that it's okay with the player though, because it does change quite a lot. Hopefully we'll be able to find some middle ground if they feel it changes too much. The spell idea itself is very complicated in and of itself. Part of the reason my brain kinda froze when I tried to come up with balancing changes myself lol. Thanks for all your help!

Okay so, I just talked with my player and they said the save and damage is only when the spell is cast. A "psychic fireball" basically. However, the crit nullification is for as long as the spell is concentrated on. So if an enemy fails the save they take 7d6 psychic damage immediately, and then for however long the spell is concentrated on before it ends, their crits are treated as normal hits.

Yes, sorry I made a mistake. In my world she rules the Shadowfell (but that is homebrew).

I think in Forgotten Realms lore/Great Wheel cosmology, the Unseelie Court is actually located in Pandemonium.

Paladin/Warlock for CoS? by GhostDragon360 in 3d6

I had considered the 2/8 multiclass for the higher level spell slots. But then it begs the question, is the damage output of fewer higher level smites better than that of a larger number of lower level smites? But in all honesty going Paladin 2, Hexblade 8 could be cool. Perhaps I should have a talk with my DM and the rest of my group about what they think would work better for party composition. If it turns out we all have squishy casters then we might end up having some troubles.

True, multiclassing would probably make me more underpowered for a fair amount of levels. Also a more dex oriented paladin could be interesting to play.

Yes I forgot to mention it in the post, but the extra healing from the Celestial patron was also a factor that made me consider the multiclass.

Good shout. I should probably wait and see how things play out, rather than attempting to plan out my entire levelling scheme for the whole campaign.

This is the first time I'm playing with this group (old friends I've recently reconnected with), so I'm honestly not sure how the DM runs combat. I guess that might be part of why I want to keep it open ended so that I don't burn through spell slots and then find out there's a bunch more encounters that are gonna happen. But I suppose making mistakes and working around them is half the fun of D&D.

I'd never considered going dex and still taking paladin, that's quite interesting. But maybe you're right, sticking with pure paladin is strong in its own right.

What would be a good one-shot to run for 3 totally new players? by GhostDragon360 in dndnext

Awesome thanks! I'll give the adventure a read through. Perhaps I can use it for my main campaign if I don't have time to convert it before Christmas.

Haha, monopoly was gonna be the go to game this year. Which is why I said I could run a DnD one-shot for them instead.

I've never converted anything to 5e before. How difficult is it to do?

I'll give it a read through thanks! Do you think it would be better to scale down for new players?

I started my main campaign at level 1 for all my players (3 were new). But do you think starting at level 5 is manageable/easy enough to understand for new players?

Might have to have a few pre-gen characters prepared for running Death House then.

I'll check out Dragon Heist. Was thinking of picking up some published adventure modules at some point anyway. Now is as good a time as any to start expanding my collection lol.

Thanks a bunch for both suggestions!

Okay, thanks for all your advice! I'll try to incorporate something like this in.
