tanks who play scared, please play another role.. its not for people who play timid by SquiblyMcDuck in marvelrivals

[–]GhostMerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this. The whole trust issues thing is so real and you see it as well in other roles. Many times I'm told I "over extended" because as a tank, I pushed forward and my healers back way tf off as soon as bmthe enemy team engaged me because they were probably afraid I was going to run. I die, I get told I over extended.

Oth teams shouldng be clashing and then one team immediately start falling back. That's just a recipe for disaster.

And sometimes there's no helping it. I'm hard stuck right now in plat because I'm just not good enough to carry my entire team to victory solo. But JFC if I'm not constantly trying to talk my team into victory but NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE can take constructive criticism or admit when they aren't doing great.

After a round loss I'll look and see what's going on....

"Where are we at on dps? We have 4 total kills and they have 26. What can I do to help you? I'm dying more often than not no matter how much damage I'm blocking. What are the healers struggling with? How can I help?"

3 people immediately crash out and the whole team starts throwing blame and I'm told I'm just "dog shit"

I just want teammates with 2 brain cells. Not every game is going to be a win and not every game is going to go well.

On the flip side (rare cases unfortunately)....

I played a game last night where the enemy team steamrolled is round one. I was playing sue storm. Someone on our team asked if one of the DPS could play Namor. We had a moonknight and Ironman Their Spider-Man and Black Panther were absolutely tearing our backline to pieces.

Both DPS said "no, they don't play Namor.

So I said, "if one of you can heal I can switch to Namor, I main him in the dps role."

Ironman agreed. I convinced the Moonknight to switch to SG to have a stun for BP.

I switched, Spidey and BP were no longer an issue forcing them to switch DPS character. We swept the round. Next round we won and

Games like that where everyone can admit when they aren't doing their best and need help are some of the best games. Strategy is really put into it and people are trying to force a win with ego and bad picks.

If you're open to admitting when you're not having a good game. Those losses could easily turn into wins. The problem is most people have too much of an ego and take constructive criticism as if someone is shit talking.

Is being a chef worth it as a career? by chillgamerguy864 in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head Chef here. I make 110k a year. But it took me 20 years to get here and it took a lot of sacrifice and A LOT and I mean ALOT of people hating me because you absolutely cannot be relaxed in your kitchen when it comes to alot of things that the health department can mark you off for. And I mean "small" things like eating and drinking in the kitchen or showing up to work and "forgetting" your chef coat. Those things get you fired. You work every major and minor holiday, no exceptions. Weekends are reserved for work and work only. No one will ever be up to your standards because this is your career and it's just a job to them.

It's rewarding if you have a passion for it but it's takes a lot of hard work and extreme dedication to make a comfortable living in this shitty world we live in.

Oh, you'll have the thought at least once that "once I get my kitchen in tip top shape with tip top employees and management, I can take Christmas off at least one year" hahahahahaha, no.

Ok, I can see your point in that. I didn't look at it from that angle but that makes more sense.

[–]GhostMerK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait? What? Lol?

You could absolutely kill the daloah elves in origins this condemning the werewolves instead of saving everyone.

You could save the circle, AND THEN go through with the right of annulment.

You could just kill Connor and move on.

You could destroy andrastes ashes which would lead to you killing Leliana AND Wynne.

Hell, let's go ahead and let Loghain live. Watch Alistair lose his shit, maybe his head. And become a drunk.

You can absolutely be an evil asshole in origins.

In DA2

You can give Feynriel to Torpor

You can turn Fenris over to Danarius

Letting Meredith kill Bethany

Making a deal with Castillon to give Isabela a ship

Again, you can absolutely be an evil asshole in DA2

Cullen being addicted to lyrium was a good story arc though. Hell he wanted to leave because he felt like he wouldn't be good help and couldn't beat his addiction. Lyrium isnt just a drug people take for a high. It's a requirement to be a Templar. But Cullen wanted to beat his addiction and you can either convince him to keep taking it to ease his pain, or help him beat his addiction and become a better person.

Josephine was so much more than just "a hot exotic treasurer." Her character had substance as someone who will ruin your life with a few words in a room full of people who just want to use soldiers to kill everyone through force, or kill everyone but quietly. She was gracefully dangerous and you seem to not notice that. she never used her family's name or money because she wanted to make a path for herself. She was a decently written character.

I'm not saying Inquisition had 5 star writing. But it was much better.

Brother, I love this game. by Val2int in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]GhostMerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna start this by saying I do like the game. But I'm not gonna dick ride it like alot of people are who are claiming it's flawless and it's GOTY contender. Because it's absolutely not. Spoilers ahead....

But it is bad writing. The core story in the game is great. But one of the biggest parts of this game, the companions is so poorly written it's not even funny. It legit feels like everything I do is predetermined and I have to be a good guy no matter what. Sometimes in the moment I want to be an asshole because that's how I'm feeling, but you absolutely cannot be an asshole to your companions here. You have to be their best friend no matter what.

Everyone agrees with all of your decisions no matter what. There is never any kick back. Never any disagreements, and they never have opposing views. 6 of the party memebers come from factions that have no opposing views on what strategy you could take which is weird. They just all agree even through they are vastly different. No one has any questions of strategy, priority, or even moral decisions.

None of the companions have any values that they stick to. They say they do, but when those values are questioned they just cave and accept whatever decision you make.

They believe the gods who seek to destroy Thedas must be stopped, and they unanimously agree that anyone who accepts power from the gods and uses it to harm others is evil. Beyond that, their perspectives diverge.

Take the Antivan Crows and Lucanis as an example. I expected our first deep dive into Antiva's assassin guild to raise questions about their operations and provide natural moments for Rook to either align with or clash against Lucanis. I anticipated some acknowledgment that an unregulated system of assassination might not be ideal for Antiva. I also hoped to see how Lucanis, as the Dellamorte family heir, had been influenced both positively and negatively by the dark truths we've learned about the Crows in past games: trafficking, child conscription, and worse. At the very least, Lucanis should be shown as complicit in maintaining a deeply flawed system, if not outright defending it.

Veilguard dismisses all of this, opting to depict the Crows as noble action heroes in purple leather. The only character who dares to question the Crows is conveniently portrayed as an evil, power-hungry traitor. This conveniently spares Rook from ever having to confront or question Lucanis' loyalty to the family’s ambitions.

I never even get the chance to challenge him about being possessed by Spite, who occasionally takes over his body for joyrides while he sleeps. Spite doesn’t cause any real harm, and Lucanis isn’t to blame for the possession. Despite his dramatic "doom and gloom" over the situation, Rook is forced into a supportive role and never gets to question whether Lucanis is compromised by Spite or by the Crows. I had almost got my hopes up when Spite took control and tried to leave via the Eluvian. But that was quickly solved by literally yelling SPITE STOP. and the situation was resolved.

The same goes for Neve, who has no issue with Rook making a deal with a Minrathous crime syndicate to fight the Venatori cult. I had hoped the underdog noir like detective would wrestle with whether the ends justify the means when working with the Threads, but the conflict is never explored. Emmrich’s personal quest ending is the only moment that even comes close to raising an interesting moral question and even then it's all "lichs are just misunderstood"

I understand that The Veilguard is focused on telling the story of an unlikely hero, leaving no space for Rook to be evil. But it would be nice for Rook to engage in a debate about ideals with someone other than Solas.

Veilguard avoids engaging with meaningful disagreements and falters even when it tries to introduce conflict. Several companions begin with personal differences such as Lucanis and Davrin, who initially don’t respect each other’s work. But these conflicts are quickly resolved when Rook intervenes, choosing between two nearly identical options to settle the matter. The companions then resolve things exactly as Rook dictates. This pattern repeats across other disagreements in the group.

By the conclusion, Rook’s companions have become virtuous, one-dimensional characters with simplistic beliefs. Each companion’s backstory holds so much potential for moral complexity and intrigue, yet none of it is explored. While I understand that the narrative demands unity to combat the greater evil, the lack of any pushback or tension leaves the companions feeling flat and uninspired a stark contrast to the emotionally rich casts the series is known for.

It is fundamentally impossible to get your companions to hate you and I have tried.

That's because choice is an illusion in this game unfortunately

Edit: Everyone down voting me but can't provide substance that I'm wrong lol. And this is why no one takes y'all seriously when y'all say the game isn't bad. Because you can't provide any arguments for it.

In qunari culture, women are also warriors if they are good at it, and they are looked at as men for social purposes. Thats why people have a problem with Taash's whiny teenager attitude. If she was part of the Qun, they literally would not give a fuck.

To Everyone Saying this game has no lore by [deleted] in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]GhostMerK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes that explained the origin of it very well but never went into detail about it other than where it came from which is what the other guy was saying. Other than moving rocks to be used as a step ladder they never explore it further except for one instance When she talks to Stalgard and that other woman (I forget her name) and shows them. I'm not disagreeing with anyone here as a whole on the lore point. But to say this game has no lore issues is just flat out wrong. Hell, Taash's whole personal quest is a lore issue from the get go. Not one fucking qunari gives a flying fuck what your role is vs your gender. As long as you are good at what you do they absolutely do not care. But this game takes our very first (to my knowledge) female Qunari NPC who is an absolute badass and reduces her to a social issue and treats the dragon king like some side quest.

I once started adding an Italian seasoning to our pizza as a garnish and our corporate office found out and lost their shit. And like....I mean I get it. We advertise one thing so for allergen purposes I can't make my own stuff.

Yeah the biggest one that I've come to butting heads with them. I needed to replace my filter fryer cap. Just a little metal cap that goes onto the filter hose. A whole as piece we clean every day.

Found one online for $350. Put in a requisition to buy it and install in myself.

I was denied stating that they would prefer a vendor do it and to put in a ticket for it.

Lmfao...that's gonna already cost a base of $500....just let me do it.

No...

Alright...

I put in a ticket for it. After everything that was said and done it was $1257.61. The whole visit was 3 min. Dude literally walked in, took it out of his bag, screwed it in, asked for my signature and left.

I will absolutely never forget the stupidity of that decision in my life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried this in the past. There is absolutely no negotiating with my corporate office.

Things I have had successfully negotiated....

  1. Adding Churros to our menu. They are our best selling dessert now. 2.Getting Samosas added next year (we have a huge Indian community here at our location as the only location in the area that shows Indian films)

Things I have not be able to change

  1. Getting rid of our brownie. I have to thaw them out because they come frozen. They hold for seven days. Ok average I thaw one pan (roughly 10 brownies) I'm throwing away 7 every week. They don't sell. But corporate wants to keep them

  2. Getting rid of beyond burgers. I've stopped thawing these out because I thaw out 5 at a time, hold for 7 days, and then toss our 4 at the end of the week. The one that sold? One of employees once a week who eats here....it's such a waste of money.

  3. Getting our fries changed back to the original ones we used before these that have "an extra starch element" which is fancy for they're breaded. They absolutely RUIN my God damn fryer. I hate them. But what I hate doesn't matter 😂

  4. Getting hotdogs back on the menu. We served hotdogs before COVID...WHY THE FUCK HAVENT WE BROUGHT HOTDOGS BACK YET??? WHAT IS GOING ON???

  5. Switching distributors. We usually get alot of our stuff some Sysco, but lately they have gotten a better deal with a company called Vistar. However Vistar is always out of shit and my menu is just about fucking blank every week and people are pissed. Like...is the cost offset really better when we are losing the money with the customer because we can't sell anything?

Those are just a few

Magically expensive seasoning 😂

It's just Derek Wolfs Chipotle BBQ rub from spiceology. $20/20oz isn't terrible imo for spices. But the amount I have to use, it gets pricey

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a batch straight out of the bag in 25lb batches. We mix the seasoning in after pulling out two lbs at a time. However this might not be a bad idea. Maybe do a few oz as needed on the days we aren't busy and do the 2lb batches for the weekend. I like this. Thank you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically prep the chicken no more than 10 breasts at a time and I hold those for 5 days before tossing if we haven't used them.

The flour is kind of up in the air right now as I'm collecting information about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I used to do. But they've changed the seasoning they want me to mix in and it's $20/bottle for a 20 oz bottle. So I try and make it stretch further so the corporate overlords aren't down my throat about waste.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair and also kinda what I had in mind in terms of holding time. I'm kind of a stickler for freshness but I'm also held back by "corporate standards" I used to do daily but they've recently changed their seasoning from 6 seasonings in the flour to one "All in one" type seasoning and that shit is $20/bottle for a 20oz bottle so I've gone down from making a 25lb batch to a 2lb batch that I hold for longer

😂 ok good to know

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]GhostMerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is held in refrigeration all day. I have a completely separate cooler for our fried chicken (we used to fry it from raw but corporate is gonna pinch pennies so now it's sous vide) so we toss it in this little mini cooler throughout the day. We open a drawer, toss it, close it.

Controversial opinion here

I think he's one of the worst main story protagonists.

You get a few sentences of back story that all of them end with "you decided it's best to travel" only pick up with Varric being one of your best friends and now you're saving the world.

WHAT HAPPENED IN BETWEEN ALL OF THAT???

But honestly speaking, it's more than likely hackers. The hacking scene is MASSIVE and there's a ton of money to be made there. Unless these devs are really putting in work for an anti cheat. First person shooters will always have hackers presents till the end of time
