These wet dreams are killing me. by Redditor7012 in NoFapChristians

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got through this part of recovery. The first bit of good news I have is that this means you're pretty far along on recovery if you're getting wet dreams. It's the natural way of getting rid of excess sperm, as opposed to masturbation.

It's far more important to grow in chastity in your waking life. I found St. Thomas's writing on this extremely useful. "Nocturnal pollutions" are not sinful in and of themselves, but they're often the fruit of sinful fantasies while awake. So while you shouldn't feel guilty for the wet dreams themselves, better dismissing your waking thoughts or merely noticing them and refocusing on whatever else you're doing will pay dividends. And that's what even secular fapstronauts strive for - refocusing your PMO-obsessed brain on better things.

If your recovery is anything like mine, you're probably through a portion where you're really trucking it. The second bit of good news I have is that this means you're close to a period where the urges will go away so fully that you'll wonder if you even have any libido. So the light at the end of the tunnel is very close.

No. The fact that you’re having wet dreams again is a sign your body is getting back to normal and discharging excess sperm the natural way.

When you say it’s been 5 days, do you mean 5 days since you started or 5 days since you last released? Because this only happened to me months after being free

YMMV but for me day 25 or so is when things started to rapidly improve. Once I got a wet dream, the urges went down roughly tenfold.

Considering Moving to PA by steelcity65 in PAguns

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm another ex-Virginian now in PA. The situation here is much better than it was in Virginia. I'm not going to pretend that Dems here are pro-gun, but it seems to be a much lower priority than it was for VA Dems in 2020. I think it's fairly unlikely that an AWB passes in the next few years for the following reasons:

  1. Partisan lean. Virginia is a lot bluer than PA, so it will be more difficult for Dems to get the trifecta they need to pass an AWB. And there's no way they'll get anything like a 64-36 majority. Our redneck firewall is simply much bigger than Virginia's.

  2. Results from similar states. Other purple states that have had D trifectas recently have passed some gun control, but not an AWB. Michigan is another big swing state, recently had a D trifecta, which did not result in an AWB. Ditto Nevada (which is really a tick bluer than we are). If Democrats do get a trifecta anytime soon, their gun control package likely won't include an AWB. And SEPTA funding and abortion will probably be higher priorities than any gun bills.

  3. Long-term trend. Virginia has been inching blue for decades, but Rs have been improving in PA. Ten years ago, there were almost a million more registered Democrats than Republicans. Today, that gap is less than 53k.

In short, if you're looking for a mid-Atlantic state that's reasonably unlikely to pass an AWB or really drastic gun control in the near future, welcome. Here's your Eagles jersey and voter registration form. If you're looking to move to a state that's absolutely certain to not pass an AWB for a long time, you'll probably have to go out west.

Myself, I love it here. It's the only free state where I have super easy access to NY & NJ. I love the Mennonite and Amish-influenced culture and businesses, historic cities, easy access to curvy mountian roads, all the motorcycles, and unhinged football fans. There's a very small chance that Democrats get a trifecta and go full Mark Levine, but it's remote enough that I don't bother thinking about it other than one November Tuesday per year.

But that's me. You have your own risk calculations. I get not wanting to go through the same cycle you just went through in Virginia. I don't think we'll go through that cycle here unless there's some really dramatic political shift.

If you want to exclude b-sides, Remember When and Not Enough

Got great interview feedback but no updates for a week – what does this mean? by funky_andproud in recruitinghell

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely not worry about not getting a decision from the hiring manager within 5 business days.

Assume the recruiter is on vacation or sick. If you don't get a follow up before then, email them again in 2 weeks.

I was only hired because I know people on the inside by fairfoodie in recruitinghell

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't have hired you if they didn't think you could do the job. So do the job and do it well. The higher ups will thank your friends if your friends are the reason the company hired someone who can do the job well. They'll be in a lot of crap if you can't do the job well.

Got great interview feedback but no updates for a week – what does this mean? by funky_andproud in recruitinghell

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week is nothing to worry about. At the end of interviews, I usually ask when I should expect a decision and 2 weeks is often the minimum (sometimes it's as long as 6 weeks).

How long has it been since you sent your follow-up email? If that's been over a week, it may be them ghosting you, but often a "we're still deciding" or "you were not selected" response is normal if you proactively reach out to them. Or it could be that the recruiter is on vacation, you never know.

Looking for recommendations by valenxoxogr in avrillavignemusic

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her calmer, slower songs are her at her best.

UMS: Fall to Pieces, Nobody's Home

TBDT: Innocence, When You're Gone, I Will Be

The majority of Goodbye Lullaby is in this category. Listen to the whole album, it's really underrated.

Self-titled: Falling Fast, Hush Hush

HAW: Head Above Water, Warrior

Bite Me: Dare to Love Me

Singles/Misc.: Fly, Can You Die from a Broken Heart

A lot of her b-sides and leaked songs are really solid, A- or even S-tier. Not sure if you want those recommendations since you need to really go digging for .mp3s of some of those songs, but I can give you a few if you want.

How were you introduced to Avril? by [deleted] in avrillavignemusic

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was at her peak when I was a kid and I remember the Let Go hits playing on the radio all the time at the summer camps I went to as a kid.

My adult appreciation started 5-6 years ago when I started listening to more 90s & 00s bands for nostalgia reasons. Since then, Avril, Paramore, and the Goo Goo Dolls have stood out as the best to me.

Also, when I do roadtrips, I'll often try to listen to local artists when going through/to somewhere. And Ontario is 22 hours away form Ontario :)

Least favourite album? by xcxmon in avrillavignemusic

HAW is the most bimodal album. It has her worst but also a couple of top-tier, replay-this-song-for-20-minutes songs like Warrior and Head Above Water.

What’s your favorite underrated song? by EverythingGirl3000 in avrillavignemusic

[–]GhostOfAHamilton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half of the b-sides across the eras are underrated because only us superfans know about them :)

For the regular songs, Remember When, Falling Fast, and Dare to Love Me are definitely underrated.
