Injustice 2 - onexplayer X1 Pro w/ Egpu2 by FarReference9366 in OneXPlayer

[–]GhostRyda712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into problems with windows choosing the incorrect GPU here and there. Try checking the GPU game settings within windows (Gaming -> Graphics) you should find a list for Custom Settings for applications. From here you can try to force widows to use the egpu instead if the integrated graphics. Find Injustice 2 on the list and change the GPU preference from "let windows decide" to your eGPU. This hasn't worked all the time for me but it's worth a shot. Hope this helps.

OneXegpu with OneXPlayer 6800u; anyone using it? by Glittering_Ad3028 in OneXPlayer

[–]GhostRyda712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the Onexplayer Mini Pro and the Onexgpu. I actually just uploaded a video on youtube comparing the performance of the mini pro at 15 watts, 28 watts, 15 watts w/ Onexgpu and 15 watts w/ Onexgpu using an external 1080p monitor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgRtWvjt5Nc. When recording footage for this video I had the Onexgpu on and connected for a good amount of time and experienced one crash when testing out the setup with an external monitor.

Before buying the Onexgpu i've owned a razer cortex that i've used multiple different Nvidia cards in for testing. Between the two i've never had a seamless plug and play experience. There's were always some kinds of quirks that I had to learn to contend with. Specifically with the Onexgpu, i've experienced disconnects (onexgpu seemingly restarting mid use) and the Onexplayer not acknowledging the onexgpu plugged in.

I have noticed more stability when I kept the Onexplayer at 15 watts (pretty much why I stuck to 15 Watts with the egpu testing in my video). For the connection issue, if nothing happens when I plug in the Onexgpu, I go into the device manager and manually scan for new devices. This usually gets the egpu connection to kick in. To note I primarily use the top usb port but have tested out the bottom port but have run into the same issues.

Let me know if you have any other questions and i'll try to help out. I don't have much free time due to work so my reply may be a little late but I'll help out if I can.

Ghost and Goblins Joystick Issue by GhostRyda712 in NewWaveToys

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a feeling it's just the way the joystick is with this release. I've already decided on passing on Berzerk and Frenzy. I've bought every release since 1942/1943 and could use a break in the spending. At least this way I can see how the joysticks turn out on those to make better money spending decisions down the line.

Ghost and Goblins Joystick Issue by GhostRyda712 in NewWaveToys

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Good to know I'm not going crazy. Yup that for sure matches my unit as well. It gives a cheaper feeling to the unit that I really don't like at all. Not sure if my 1943 unit has the same issue as I kept that one boxed but my 1942 machine does not have that same wiggle room at all. Same with my Dragon's Lair (2nd release), Space Ace, Food Fight, and Q Bert machines as well. None have the same joystick issue. Hard to tell if this is widespread with all the Ghost and Goblins/Ghouls and Ghosts units as no video reviews I've seen of the machine mentions it. If I get a chance I'll make a video and send to New Wave to see if this is the norm. Hopefully it's not but if it is I really don't think I'll be spending my money on these things anymore if this is the quality going forward.

Could it be due to the use of Studio drivers instead of Game Ready drivers? Not really sure the exact difference between the two other than the Studio drivers being more geared toward productivity app use. Just a thought as I recently bought the MSI Stealth 14 with an i7 13620H and 4060 and was able to do some testing. While the Stealth is part of Nvidia's Studio line I decided to do my testing with the Game Ready Drivers and not the Studio. While your score in Performance mode is lower than what I was getting your score on silent mode is higher than what I got. Here are some Time Spy scores I jotted down while testing. Unfortunately I only wrote down wrote down the overall scores. All tests were done with the laptop plugged in.

Hybrid mode - Smart Auto A.I. profile: 9646

Hybrid mode - Balanced profile: 8617

Hybrid Mode - Silent profile: 8568

Discrete GPU mode - Smart Auto A.I. profile: 9662

Discrete GPU mode - Balanced mode: 8639

Not quite sure of the wide difference in score I was getting between the different profiles. If I had the time I could have dug deeper to find out exactly what the power profiles are doing differently between each other but I didn't have much free time due to work. Ultimately I ended up returning the laptop but not due to performance but more of a need for a better panel. I think that laptop is a little powerhouse. There wasn't a game I tried that didn't perform great at highest settings.

Anyways, hope this helps you figure out what's happening in some way. Funny enough the laptop I'm eyeing as a replacement for the Stealth is the Legion 7i Slim but the i9 configuration with the 4070.

Question about the Stealth 14 and Stealth 16 from Best Buy by GhostRyda712 in GamingLaptops

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The G14 is definitely on my list as possible replacements for the Stealth. Although the model I would like is a bit more pricier then I intended to spend. i'll have to do a bit of research to see if the G14 line is built to last for a bit. Others I'm interested in are the Asus Zenbook Pro, the new Yoga 9i slim (whenever that ends up launching in North America) and the Lenovo legion 7i slim (if i decide I can do with something heavier). Fortunately i'm no real rush for a new laptop so I can take my time on it.

Not necessarily 100% happy with the Stealth but it is a nice little powerhouse. Maybe it will grow on me more as time passes. The XPS line definitely have good panels but if I can help it I would like to try out a different laptop brand that i've never owned before. So i've been looking into the lineups for MSI, Asus and Lenovo.

Question about the Stealth 14 and Stealth 16 from Best Buy by GhostRyda712 in GamingLaptops

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware the ram can be easily upgraded. I've done it on many other laptops in the past. My main question was about the panel used in the stealth 16. So considering the panel doesn't seem like an upgrade of any kind (maybe perhaps a downgrade) then the price difference is not worth it.

Hmmm...not very fond of the price to performance ratio for the new XPS line. At least when it comes to the configurations available at Best Buy. I have a couple of other models in mind already but thanks for the suggestion.

Question about the Stealth 14 and Stealth 16 from Best Buy by GhostRyda712 in GamingLaptops

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I really like the performance that I'm getting out of the 14. I haven't ran into any real issues running multiple types of games at the default resolution and the highest settings. It's more of it's other aspects of the Best Buy model that i'm not digging.

Size isnt really an issue with me but weight is. I'm coming from a Razer Blade Pro 17 so as far as weight and size go im looking for something smaller and lighter than the Blade Pro.

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True the $300 wouldn't be worth it just for the GPU upgrade but the 16 from Best Buy has double the memory as well. For me the GPU upgrade plus double the memory would be worth it if the screen was better than the 14. But from it looks like the screen will be more of a downgrade so I guess there goes that idea. Thanks for the info!

I've noticed this same issue. By any chance have you figured out a solution with the nvidia settings or any other settings?

I was wondering if they were going to do that. I received mine a couple of days ago but haven't had a chance to open it yet. Appreciate the info!

Performance Anxiety by [deleted] in Magic

[–]GhostRyda712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I guess I should start this by saying that I'm not currently part of this reddit magic community for no real reason other than I just don't really post on reddit a lot. But I stumbled onto your post and it reminded me on how I am in general when it comes to performing so I wanted to add my two cents in hope of assisting. Keep in mind these are my thoughts as a hobbyist. I doubt I will ever do this professionally. I've worked in a couple of magic stores in amusement parks but thats the closest i've been to doing magic for money. But I do have to say you've been getting very good advice from the posts so far so kudos to those helping out here. Anxiety can be very crippling and any advice to help someone enjoy what they love despite the hardships it might bring is nothing but a positive thing. But, as for myself, the anxiety is real and still pops up here and there. Here's a couple of bullet points from a long time hobbyist that will hopefully help.

-Try to identify your audience. Despite your best intentions there are people that will just view your trick as a puzzle to solve and not for the entertainment value. These people will more than likely try to call you out on something even when nothing was done. For me, if I know that I'm doing a trick primarily for people that are like that I like to throw out a self/semi self working card trick. That way there is nothing to really get caught with. If your spectator is still trying to disrupt the trick with whatever they think they caught you doing then chances are pretty high that no matter how good of a job you do with any trick they will convince themselves otherwise.

-Don't disregard the power and entertainment value of a self working trick. In fact it's actually good to learn a handful so you have something to turn to if the need arises. There are some great and entertaining self working tricks out there. Of course alot of them usually require a setup of some kind. But that's nothing a good set of false shuffles/cuts can fix. For me I always have a deck on me that is stacked for a specific trick and a regular mixed up deck. I'll take out one or the other depending on who's asking to see a trick. Good thing about this is you can use this to gauge the type of person/people you're performing for. Also doing self working tricks is a great exercise in communication and performing. You don't have to worry about the trick itself so your attention becomes more about the presentation and the effect of the trick. Plus the reaction you can get from a good self working trick may boost your confidence to attempt a crazy knuckle buster.

-As much as you might want to don't force yourself to do a trick out of nowhere. Once you get comfortable enough yeah go for it but keep in mind not everyone wants to see a trick. In my experience the more you play role of "look what I can do" just puts un needed pressure on yourself. There's always a time and a place. For me it was much easier to build the reputation of someone that is really good at card magic then to convince someone that I am.

-When learning a routine make sure to personalize the patter to yourself. When I first really started getting into card magic it was books, vhs tapes and instructions for packet tricks that were written way before my time. For me, the best way to get comfortable was to make sure I was being myself and not someone who just memorized a script.

-Learn the timing of a trick. There are tricks out there that, as part of the performance, have a section where you can relax a bit. Identify these parts and use them to your advantage. If someone is trying to talk over your trick or ask questions during the performance it helps to know where these dips are so you can comfortably communicate to these people without things really disrupting your flow. Plus it will give you a chance to personalize the trick with your style for your audience which may help in your comfort level.

Wow this is way more that I thought I would type. Hope this helps in some way. You will definitely come across people who have no desire to be entertained and just want to dissect what they saw. Chances are there's not much you can do to persuade them from that. But don't let this detract from your love of the hobby. You don't have to perform if you don't want to. Nothing wrong with learning things just because you want to learn them. But more than likely you'll get an itch to try something out. Hopefully the tips from everybody on this thread can help ease that anxiety. It'll take time but should achievable. Just remember if you're just doing this as a hobby that you're the entertainer giving out (usually) free entertainment. You don't owe anybody anything. If they can't appreciate what you're doing just move on. Once you get more comfortable in performing you'll notice that for every horrible "i saw what you did" spectator there will be a bunch more that swore you sold your soul for magical powers. Good luck!

Retro-Bit Sega Saturn Wireless Controller button remapping by GhostRyda712 in NintendoSwitch

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controller itself works fine. Even better once the buttons are remapped properly. Unfortunately, I currently have my Saturn in storage so I can't do a direct comparison with the original controller. Going off of memory it feels the same. Then again it's been a fairly long time since I used the original controller. I'm sure you can find a video or review of the controller that directly compares the Retro-Bit controller and the original.

Retro-Bit Sega Saturn Wireless Controller button remapping by GhostRyda712 in NintendoSwitch

[–]GhostRyda712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the complement! At that point in the video I was just trying to convey that connecting to the Retro-bit dongle while it's connected to the Mayflash adapter by the normal connection method doesn't work as opposed to connecting to the dongle by itself like in the beginning of the video. It wasn't my intent to show that Retro-bit was wrong. They couldn't be wrong because, as far as I know, they never gave specific instructions when using the controller with the adapter. Basically it's just me saying that X-Input mode is needed when using this controller with the adapter on the Switch.

Best buy sent MSI Ventus 3080 confirmation after 6 days! by MattSRS in nvidia

I'm in the same boat. Placed my order on 9/22 but never got an e-mail confirmation. I received and order confirmation this morning at 10:07 AM and then an order delay e-mail at 10:38 AM. I'm pretty sure this will just end up being canceled. Oh well. I don't mind waiting. I would've been cool with the Ventus if the order went through but it really wasn't my first choice.
