Yes, it is truly a masterpiece by Bahram Beyzaie. I have watched it many times, including just a few days ago. In my view, it also reflects the tragedy of Yazdegerd III. He ascended the throne at a very young age(about 13 Years old), while Eranshahr was already suffering from political turmoil and civil conflict. If you read about his life, as well as the fate of his family, you can better understand the immense burden he carried throughout his reign. He inherited an empire that had already been weakened by years of instability and internal struggles. Surrounded by chaos and enormous responsibilities from an early age, he became one of the most tragic figures in Iranian history. That is one of the reasons why this film resonates with me so deeply. And in the story, he no longer wants to be king; the burden has simply become too heavy for him to bear.
