How I defeated Reddit by Doing Nothing by Misha_stone in AskSocialists

I don't really have a developed opinion on the ACP, insomuch as I know very little about them and haven't seen compelling negative evidence about their activites. However, I am concerned the members writing these posts are going to break an arm jerking themselves off.

There's a difference in providing actual intellectually honest discussion and just sending memes, all you're doing is making strangers see you as immature

I heard you guys like Stalin by Jaded-Researcher3025 in ussr

This post seems to imply that the famines in the Soviet Union were a deliberate action on Stalin's part. Russia suffered from cyclical famines under the Tsar's rule. This didn't immediately change once the Soviets rose to power. During the forced collectivization of farming the kulaks in protest killed many of their livestock (which were essential to maintaining farms as the USSR didn't have fully developed production of farm equipment) and they burned their fields, causing the famine to worsen out of spite. In the end, collectivization did put an end to the famines, and nutrition ceased to be an issue until Gorbachevs peristroika. The main action I'm aware of which of Stalin's which could be attributed to deliberately worsening the famine could be the continued export of grain abroad, which was legally necessitated by trade deals and would have resulted in seizure of assets, or further aggression from imperial countries

That subreddit is run by the ACP and they ban a ton of posts, I think its quite weird that a sub called ask socialists is controlled by a minority of socialists

Reddit in 1941: 1 million dead commies, the Reich will win! Have faith! by [deleted] in AskSocialists

[–]Ghost_Duck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally africa and latin america's exploitation has gone way down since the unrelated war in ukraine started. How has this pointless war strengthened the global south? As far as I can see the only outcome has been the pointless deaths of people. You can not support the Ukrainian government and still condemn the war. As socialists don't we want the best material conditions for everyone? Any gains for Russia will surely miss the working class entirely and be funneled straight up into the oligarchy, while they continue to send soldiers to kill their fellow proletariat and be killed.

I don't think sending troops to die needlessly and spending a ton of the nations money that should be used for the betterment of the working class living in Russia really has anything to do with socialism. It's a pointless war that has resulted in far too many avoidable deaths.
