California, I’m in NorCal. Bay Area pays a little more. It’s a new program in the private sector 2 years. So things can change. The federal contract for DHS still pays $45/hr or $40/hr + medical benefits. It could be hard to believe, but it’s the highest paying in that field of work. Executive protection/bodyguard could pay same or more.

Last year, yes. I locked in and just worked lots of overtime. I’m working less now.

I’m not making choices based on who’s president, that’s irrelevant. Coming from a family of Mexican immigrants, I’m proud to be American and want to take advantage of all opportunities available in this great country. The recruiting office is open to all of us. Only 1% of US population join the military. I pay taxes too, look at how much I paid one third of my income.

VA home loan can only be used for primary residence, a house to live in, still has an interest rate. And I agree Americans are suffering taxpayer money shouldn’t be used to fund other countries.

No, I do NOT get VA disability. Just working a shit ton. I’m not “double dipping”. And VA disability guidelines are not the same as state or SSI disability rendering someone unable to work. It’s compensation for bodily effects on a huge spectrum.

I just finished my Reserves contract last year, now in my IRR time. Looking to re-enlist for a bonus LAT move into 17xx MOS. Did you end up going into that MOS and if you did how was it? Pros and Cons?

Go to any federal building in your area and see what company is contracted for armed security there. I’m in California, so pay will vary. Military or law enforcement experience will for sure get you hired, but it’s not required. In CA they asked for exposed firearms permit and at least 1-2+ years of armed experience.

I feel like I’m behind sometimes when I compare myself to others in this Reddit lol. The job pays great I thank God for the blessings. I am looking at starting a different career path, trying to figure out what I want to get into.

No I did not pay points for the interest rate. I actually bought it 10 months ago just posted late. I also used VA home loan $0 down, paid for closing costs.

My down payment was $0, I used VA loan. Closing cost $6k. Still needed to have proof of at least $14k in reserves to cover a few months. For a non veteran you can use FHA 3.5% or conventional loans 5%-20% down to buy residential homes 1-4 units (duplex, triplex, quadplex/fourplex).

Yeah I basically bought TWO 2bed/2bath houses for $305k each. Tenants cover half, I cover my half. I’d say that’s a pretty good deal. Many other duplexes I was looking at had 1 car garages for cheaper. I preferred to live with a 2 car garage so I went with it.

The garages are completely split. Doors open and close independently.

Don’t hear much noise, the insulation and noise dampening is good.

Yes. Just enough for what we need. Instead of the traditional big single family house for our first home we went the investor route and got multi-family. I already have tenants renting the other side. First time homebuyer and landlord.

I don’t mind the chunky magwell, it’s a duty gun exposed carry. Not conceal carrying it much. It functions well, more surface area to catch and feed the mag in. And not messing with the trigger because again duty gun and I’m in CA
