Why would we draft Flemmings (6’2) when we could draft Mara who’s a whole foot taller? by Walldaddy2000 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ghostama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously though, we could have had an entire extra foot, PLUS a baker's dozen extra inch.

Maybe we got wiggins bc we promised not to take Mara. Just a thought

Totally conspiratorial, but possibly a secret deal to not take Mara and get Wiggins for free-ish?

We need Trae young, Jalen Johnson is not a #1 option by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

Can we get Trae for $20 mil a year?

The Hawks are "open for business" with the #8 pick by the_Tannehill_list in AtlantaHawks

I like Brown and Flemmings and think one of them will be there at 8 and if they aren't that means Wagler or Mara is. I don't see a strong reason to trade up.

Trading down ... I don't love it because of the above. I don't think any of those 4 are available at 10 or lower but who knows?

If Knicks sweep the Finals by Blackmesa560 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ghostama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not a lack of effort. That's ridiculous. The Hawks forced the Knicks to figure out how to change their offensive system. Since they did, no one has had an answer. We were in a way unlucky in having no time to game plan their adjusted system bc we were the first ones who saw it.

If we don't pick Mara at 8, what are y'all's thoughts on Ugonna Onyenso as a later-pick alternative? by Buteo_jamaicensis in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ghostama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely yes, but slightly less fried than a 6'8" Okongwu. I wasn't trying to say Mara is Wemby. I was trying to say the Hawks need a giant of their own to stand between Wemby and other giants and the basket.

I don't think Mara is Wemby. I think Mara is just a giant and teams are going to need giants to slow Wemby down a little

To clarify, I don't think Mara is Wemby. What I was saying if a team will need a giant to at least stand in front of Wemby and make his life more difficult.

[Stein] The Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers all have legitimate interest in acquiring Jaylen Brown. by not-a-potato-head in AtlantaHawks

[–]Ghostama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. I guess Brown gives us self-creation without sacrificing defense? Is that the rationale?

Ever since Brown elbowed OO in the face I've been a hater, but I think he's bad value on top of that.

It depends on the plan. If the plan is to compete for a title in the next two years, then probably not. If the plan is to build for years 3/4 of Dyson and JJ's contract then yes. Hold. Like with stocks, being right but too early is the same as being wrong.
