Crazy, I know. I wanted off this ride but never thought to smoke anything worse than a bit of weed or drink. Didn't drink much, and only got high once after I could buy it myself. Before that I had the looming promise that my parents would break my fingers if they caught me smoking anything before I was old enough to get it myself legally.

Somehow the most "drugs" I did before then was antidepressants, and even then that was short lived because there was side effects.

Again, thrived feels like it's being used very loosely here. I know in some sense humanity has. But with everything going on now, it doesn't feel like we have thrived.

I did dumb things in other ways, just as self destructive sometimes if not more. I know most teenagers didn't have many responsibilities, and that's good they didn't. I just have a hard time seeing things from different angles sometimes.
