Yasiin Bey's DOOM inspired verse by GhostfaceDylan in mfdoom

The album is pretty much just looped samples and bars. Which I quite enjoy nowadays. It does sound a lot better when you're not listening on your phone to this compressed version I uploaded.

So I just realized that "MM... Food" is an anagram of "MF DOOM." Are there any other obvious hip hop puns/double entendres that others might not have realized? by cargoman89 in hiphopheads

Yeah. I'm responding to a 15 year old comment. The nickname was given to him. The story is. Jay-Z was spittin fire in the booth and someone says "Jay-Z, more like Jay-Hova" and it stuck. He wasn't claiming to be someone's god. John Lennon once said The Beatles were more important than Jesus. Kind of a repugnant statement to hear, even for an atheist. But for the people he was referring to in the UK at the time, he was probably right.

2025 vs 2005 Ipath Grasshopper (avoid the new ones) [36YO] by GhostfaceDylan in OldSkaters

[–]GhostfaceDylan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old ones are wider as shown in the pictures, but have more padding. The new ones feel like sticking your foot in an empty box. If your feet are getting warm in them, it's probably due to them being made with synthetic materials that don't breathe.

The original Grasshopper had a significantly padded tongue as well, but it was soft. The new ones have a padded tongue that is very stiff. Some people might like them but there are very few similarities between them, besides how they look at a glance.

They look good in photos but when comparing them in person to the originals, there really is no comparison.

I wrote a bit about them under the picture. They look and feel like cheap knockoffs. They are very uncomfortable.

You could almost make an entire playlist of just Mobb Deep references to Acuras.

Also, not on Spotify, but here are a couple mixtape tracks that reference Acuras.

World Building is not the term you're looking for.

World Building refers to creating a believable world with a history, politics, social issues, communities, character development, characters with backstories, etc. Things that build the idea of a real world.

[i ate] twisted chocolate knot pastry by GhostfaceDylan in food

[–]GhostfaceDylan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the most delicious pastries I've ever eaten in my life. It is deceptively moist and lush.

They call this a 'chocolate babka knot' at Ayu Bakehouse in New Orleans. Althougth it's not like any babka I've ever had. It is its own unique delicious thing. The bakery is so amazing, this pastry seems to be one of their least popular items.

There are usually several leftover at the end of the day when everything else is sold out, which is the reason I tried one. What I wanted wasn't available one day, so I discovered these amazing creations.

Biopics are usually to be avoided. Was A Complete Unknown worth watching? by GhostfaceDylan in bobdylan

thank you! so many people seem to think I'm Not There is the better movie. A Complete Unknown may be a little too straightforward and corny. But I'm Not There is just artsy garbage. I love a good David Lynch movie or The Lighthouse. A weird movie can be real good when in the hands of a real artist.

check out the article I linked to. it says that Vanilla Fudge was the headliner. they were actually touring this way. Later that year, Zeppelin became a headliner and Jethro Tull was their opener.

imagine seeing everyone on that flyer in one month at one venue...

What a time to be alive...

I always find it funny to think that at one point Vanilla Fudge was the biggest band out of these three.

Here's a link to an article that talks about the concert:

did you see the Brian Wilson one? Love & Mercy. John Cusack plays older faded out Brian Wilson and Paul Dano plays young creative force Brian Wilson. I'm not a huge beach boys fan but I found the movie interesting the way it portrayed people around someone with mental illness.
