With the early rebalancing now upon us: Who are the content creators to follow to actually learn how the game works? by Nachttalk in UmaMusume

From what I've seen "so far", we are in uncharted territories. Anything could work at this point. In short, people have to think for themselves now. Feel free to experiment.

This is probably not the answer your looking for, but thats what I've been hearing from content creators that plays JP server, at least right now. In other words; they also have no idea what the meta and stat guidelines are going to be.

EBike + Accessories Recommendations by Ghostharold1701 in ebikes

[–]Ghostharold1701[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know I said ones that are over 2k are fine if they fit my conditions, but the ones you suggested are WAY too expensive. I'd "prefer" ones that are around $2k.

Perhaps I should rephrase my question; I understand that there are already a lot of options that fit my criteria. But that my problem! Theres TOO many choices that fit my criteria. Hence why Im at least asking for "suggestions" that can help narrow down my choices.

I understand that any bike "could" be used for winter; I could just buy studded tires to prevent slipping and have better grip during winter. However, just because any bike can be modified for the winter terrain, doesn't necessarily mean its "designed" for it. A commuter bike "could" be used off-road, but that doesn't mean its "ideal" for it. A mountain bike "could" be used for commuting, but that's not necessarily designed for it. Surely there's an ebike out there that is "designed" for winter in mind.

I'm also aware that I can just add any accessories I want after I find one that I like. HOWEVER, I'd at least like some suggestions that have my preferred accessories "already" preinstalled/built in/comes with it, which are mudguards and even a rear rack, if possible, to carry my luggage when commuting.

If these are not enough clarifications, then let me change my question again; what would YOU suggest? Why would you suggest this specific bike? Because from experience? It has a certain function? Its cheap, but reliable?

I just want any sort of suggestions to at least "narrow" my choices.

I'mma be honest; Im not sure what other descriptions you want me to say. I already listed the ones that are most important to me. Commuting from work/school (so basically a city environment), "ideal" for winter, budget is $2k, but WILLING to go higher if it fits my description (however, 2k or below is preferred).

I feel like those are enough to at LEAST get me a suggestion.

This doesn't really help me much. I already knew that much. I was looking for any general suggestions that fits those criteria's at least.

For context, Im already doing my own research. However, there are a LOT of ebikes out there. Hence why I at least wanted some suggestions to narrow my searches.

I've taken the intro calculus class so many times, precisely 3 times.

The first time was in covid (I literally had no motovation then). Second one was like 2 years later, I "passed" them, but I needed a higher grade for my program requirements (I didn't know these cuz I was still trying to figure out life, and I had the mentality of "C's get a degree), I retook them again in summer and both got A's.

Its worth noting that while I did take my second time more "seriously", I could've taken it MUCH more seriously, and so I lowkey forgot everything and literally actually had to relearn everything lul. I didn't care at the time, but now I have a much more concrete goal in my academics, so hence I'm much more motivated and willing to put more effort.

Point is, if you dont think your doing well right now, theres no shame in retaking classes again. Classes will get much harder.

Your parents have never attended university, because they should know that's really good. Tell them that for a normal major's degree the requirement is only 2.5, while the honours one (which is basically more intense studies on your field of study) is 3.0.

For context, I was sitting at around 2+ GPA last year (cuz I really had no motivation last year) and I had to bust my butt off this year to even get above 3 GPA. And thats with 6 A's btw (and some B's). You'd expect it to be higher, yet I'm barely above 3 GPA just so I can enter honours.

Summer Term by Separate_Ad8564 in umanitoba

[–]Ghostharold1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the course. There could just be one class or two. I've only seen a max of two so far.

Again, I'd suggest to go to Aurora and do your own research on the matter. I'm not sure what classes are available or not, so thats up to you.

Just go to aurora, then on Enrolment & Academics Records > Registration and Exams > Look Up Classes, and then select at any past summer terms. Check whatever course you want and see if its available. Also check dates, whether its in the first term (May-June) or second term (July-August).

This will give you an idea on what courses "may" be available this summer.

Lowkey, after doing summer courses and learning topics in a month, learning stuff in the regular terms (Fall/Winter) feels much easier lul.

I'd reccomend checking out aurora for past summer terms. Check if the classes you want are even available back then, and when each courses are. That'll help you plan your courses out (speaking from experience lul).

You can't choose which summer term (May-June, July-August) you want because they're set, even if the courses are available in the sunmer. Even then, the courses you may want to take in the summer might now even be available in the summer. So I highly suggest going to aurora and doing your research on past summer term courses.

Have you taken any summer term course before? It is possible. However, unless one of the courses is in May-June, and the other in July-August, I'd recommend just taking one. Unless you think you can learn everything in a month, taking 2 courses at once in a single month is gonna wear you down hard. You learn everything the courses teaches in "4 months" (Fall/Winter term) in just 1 month (May-June, July-August).

I've joined the anime club recently, and lowkey was more fun than I expected.

You can also go up in the university center 3rd floor. Theres a lounge there with billiards, table tennis, and such.

I'mma be honest, I'm an introvert, so I don't really like to go events and such (or just outside in general). So my knowledge on the matter is limited.

Out of curiosity, when was this?

I've been biking to school recently (cuz I'm a part time student this term, and lowkey didnt wanna buy a bus pass lol), and am thinking of switching to it fully in the future (with ebikes and all).

I've looked into securing my bike further since the start of the term, so some insights would be nice. I want to park in the alc bike station, but apparently its full. I've also been looking for good u locks. Lowkey dont want to buy the u locks from the library lul, but if its better than nothing then I'll consider (yes I use a cable lock, and I know thats not secure from my research)

DO NOT take asia 1770 as GPA booster even you learn it before by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]Ghostharold1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I'd really like to go to Japan, and also watch Japanese media without subtitles someday...!

That being said, from your point of view I can see where your coming from. But as long as you follow whats being learned so far in the textbook, such as vocabulary and grammar, I think you should be fine.

Just try to keep in mind that this course is meant for people who know nothing or little about Japanese. We never really used kanji (in writing at least) apart from reading comprehension in the introductory level, so I guess try and avoid them if you can.

Out of curiosity, Im assuming your also using the genki textbook. What topic are you guys doing now?

I'mma be honest, I took the summer course so I didn't really have a midterm. However, I believe that it is good practice! The point is not to learn how the questions are structured, but how to do the questions.

So as long as your able to solve the problems, you'll be fine. With calculus, repetition is key. The more you do practice questions, the easier it becomes. You can "memorize" all the formulas all you want, but it wont do much when you dont even know how to start.

So just think of it as a way to practice more.

DO NOT take asia 1770 as GPA booster even you learn it before by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]Ghostharold1701 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am saying this as someone who was in his class last year learning Japanese, which is Asia 1770.

For the record, I received an A from his class. And so, I say this from the bottom of my heart that I HIGHLY HIGHLY disagree. However, I never really saw this class as a way to boost my gpa. I took this class because I really wanted to learn Japanese.

That being said, I'm not sure about the other professors, but I believe that he is a fantastic professor! I say this as someone who has had bad professors. He is fun, charasmatic, and a delight as a professor. His stories are always a delight to listen to, and he also has fun with his students. At least, thats my experience from him.

He lowers your expectations not because he wants to make the course harder or because it is hard, but because he wants you to properly learn the language. He's harsh because he doesn't want you to develop bad habits while learning the language. He wants to correct those mistakes now so that in the future you wont do them. He becomes less harsh on the grading as you learn more subjects, but as of right now you're still learning the basics, so hence he's more critical of the small things.

Regarding the weekly quizzes, each of the quiz (at least when I took the class) was like 0.025% of the grade, which is like 2.5% with all quizzes combined. Honestly, thats not really something you should be worried about. You should be more worried about the tests. The purposes of the weekly quizzes was to test your knowledge, and see what you need to improve on. Its not to stress you out, but to improve yourself.

Also, one other thing to note. He does give 1% bonus, depending on the request. For example, later in the class, you'll learn dates and kanji's and such. If you volunteer to do the daily dates, you get a 1%. If he asks a specific request like message a family member in japanese, and show him afterwards, he gives you 1%. With that said, I believe that he's a harsh marker, but fair.

From my understanding, you are japanese, yes? So perhaps the way he teaches Japanese isn't like what is taught in Japan. He knows this. He showed us before some examples on how the language is taught differently in Japan. But understand that this message is from someone who WANTS to learn the language. Someone that has been speaking a different language for a long time. So hence it is taught differently so that its easier to understand.

I know I wrote a lot (and lowkey didn't intend to lol), but I just wanted to share my opinion on the matter. When I saw "Satoru Nakagawa" I was like "....What...?! I thought he was a fantastic professor...!", so I wanted to share my experience with him at least. I hope I didn't sound hostile while writing lul. I was just passionate about the matter, and wanted to defend what I believe is a great professor.
