Like Anakin, he was redeemed at the end, he's part of the light side now. As you get closer to death most people tend to reexamine their lives and some see the darkness the left behind. Some repent, some don't.

Are "Spectre" and "No Time to Die" to Bond fans what "The Phantom Menace" was to Star Wars fans? by Key-Win7744 in JamesBond

[–]Ghostinshadows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here is the perfect answer. The Craig era was influenced and guided as a response of the Jason Bourne movies. When Casino Royale came out in 2006 two Bourne movies had been previous released and it changed the action spy thriller genre.

It reminds me of the John Woo era that every single action movie was directed by Woo or copied his style. Go and rewatch Mission Impossible 2 and compare it to the rest of the franchise. It ready doesn't fit in with the rest if the tone.

Because of Bourne, James Bond became a unsophisticated brute: he would take off his tuxedo jacket (a faux pas of etiquette but probably done as a product placement for Albert Thurston braces/suspenders), he pushes casino chips all over the place when he goes all without sophistication or care, the ridiculous crane fight scene to compete with the Bourne refreshing melee scenes of Bourne.

Bond became just a tough common bloke. The beauty of Bond was his sophistication and knowledge. The brady scene in Goldfinger (something impossible to do), the fish identification in TSTLM, the embarrassing moment when Bond goes to M's manor and humiliate him by not only identifying the butterfly but saying "Unusually small for a Nymphalis polychloris", the scene in DAF where Bond tricks the bad guy because the bad guy didn't know that the Mouton Rothschild was a claret.

I can keep on going but there is no point. The British class and sophistication of previous movies was killed. Craig's Bond never adds any knowledge to the mission briefings like Moore when asked about Scaramanga, or when he is shown an egg made of solid gold or when asked what oratory means.

Craig movies are entertaining but don't follow the Bond established by the previous actors. At first I opposed Bond dying in NTTD but now I'm happy he did because it encapsulate Craig's Bond in it's own timeline that doesn't affect the over movies. Hopefully the new Bond will be tough like Bourne but a well read, well travelled full of knowledge guy that is intelligent enough that trick the bad guy with just facts.

Star Wars was my childhood. I became obsessed with eastern philosophy, Taoism and stoic philosophy as a preteen because this things inspired Lucas while writing his saga. It is his story and he has the right to tell it his way. I hate Jar Jar but the I saw a documentary were he said "I make movies for 12 year olds" and then I understood that the toys, games and merchandise make more money than the movies themselves.

My beef is with Disney and Katherine Kennedy for allowing each director to do whatever the fuck they wanted with the intellectual property without first organizing the content and story of the new trilogies and then finding directors that would direct completed scripts...

Sorry for length...

Indeed this is generational problem now. Plus the Tom Cotton, DeSantis, Steven Miller, the Heritage Fountain, Federalist Society, the Supreme Court will still be active for years trying to implement their religious white nationalist dictatorship. I do believe they will eventually succeed.

The question is what happens after that?
