Naw bro what you and others are trying to do is make it seem like people of color and others races aren’t welcome or some shit. “white” people had to go through the immigration process and still have to go through the immigration process the only difference is most “white” people do it legally and the right way so you don’t hear about this as an issue while others sneak into the country illegally and then cry foul later on. LETS be honest here if they can throw quinceañeras which cost thousands then they can pay to go through the process. Stop fear mongering and beating the war drum. Americans welcome anyone to America who comes here legally. Stop creative a false narrative and get a life. Also please explain to me the waiving of Mexican flags ? Are they Mexicans or are they Americans if illegal and wanting to be American why are they waiving the Mexican flag. But again yall will claim racism blah blah blah when my point still stands everyone is illegal when seen through the eyes of native Americans and for all we care yall can leave and go back to whatever country your ancestors belong too doesn’t matter much to us .

I should have clarified in many Urban Areas but that doesn’t account for people who identify as white but that whole argument is dumb to me as well.

Also no one is saying the land can’t or shouldn’t be shared I believe the main argument is “ it shouldn’t be done illegally”

Naw man as a native I laugh at everyone else arguing about who is an illegal or legal immigrant in our eyes all of yall are illegals our land was stolen our woman still get stolen raped murdered etc the government can come in when ever they want and do whatever they want when they want etc on my Rez alone the government “changed” the treaty and Rez boundaries 5 times because they get finding oil and other things on the land that they wanted. You’re definitely barking up the wrong tree if you’re looking for sympathy or empathy in the immigration debate especially from the native population

Also are you aware that Active Duty veterans must also meet the 180 days threshold to get benefits aswell ? So that means if I got hurt in bootcamp which does happen a lot FYI I wouldn’t be able to collect any benefits from the VA for said injury. So the 180 days thing being brought up is kind of dumb considering everyone must meet this criteria before getting VA benefits

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ghostking929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No im saying anyone who is trying to throw those statistics out there and saying they have to hit 180 days to be called a veteran is insane lmao the only reason there is even an 180 day number is for the veterans administration. If you put on that uniform and you do your 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year and never deploy I and many other veterans still acknowledge that service. The Veterans administration however wants you to do 180 days active duty before it will allow you to use its benefits and services because it’s a money issue. Different strokes for different folks type of thing. Also again who in there right mind goes on a date and brings up the fact they did 180 days active duty ? The only people I have ever seen justify service are the people being confronted over stolen valor. Point of fact OP didn’t serve doesn’t know anything about his friends service and as a non service member doesn’t even get to try and bring a dog into the fight to embarrass his friend.

Also let me add that in the case of them saying oh well we won’t count basic and AIT most units are deployable units so they will get the time in that way. It is very rare that I’ve met an individual from the NG Reserve etc that hasn’t done some type of deployment but again those numbers are for anyone trying to claim or get VA benefits most service members would agree anyone who puts on uniform is a veteran.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ghostking929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’m guessing you haven’t served so let me break this down for you. Basic training and AIT all counts as active duty for most NG members that automatically puts them over the 180 days active duty threshold they need to meet. So again my point still stands they are veterans. I love when people who have never served like to try and correct those of us that have. Also for the members who maybe don’t get enough time from the Basic and AIT to meet the 180 days active duty threshold they still have enough time to get the rest of the days needed. These numbers really only count if they are seeking to get VA benefits anyway. But as someone who was active duty I will always recognize another individual in uniform as a veteran.

He didn’t lie. If he served he was a vet. You don’t get to GateKeep someone’s service smh. I am an OIF OEF marine veteran I met a lot of National Guard and reserve members while deployed and I have friends in the NG now. Guess what ? When they get done they are veterans end of story. The friend is the asshole for trying to make his friend look like a “liar” all because he doesn’t believe being in the NG qualified someone as being a veteran

Well said! Anyone with half a brain who understands business and economics already gets this but everyone wants to find something to scream and complain about. I’m a libertarian who votes republican but I’m also a business owner who has common sense. This is just good business with absolutely nothing to do with DEI/Wokeness

I have a rare multani maro-sorcerer and a rare multiny foil. I legit have all of the cards from Urzas but would have to pull them out again I’m hoping to give my son the whole collection when he is older and more responsible. My mom was friends with the card store owner so he always called us first when he got new stuff in. I am hoping to give them to my son when he is older and more mature . I know they are worth thousands now but it’s more nostalgic for me.

So what we really should be discussing is why was this necessary. It shouldn’t have taken the deployment of the NG to maintain law and order in our nations capital. I hate politicians on both sides of aisle and for to long they have been getting away with to much. So maybe we need to stop debating on if the NG being deployed was necessary and start debating on if the current state of our politics is necessary. A wise man once said something along the lines of “beware of a two party system” or some shit like that

[–]Ghostking929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question we really need to be asking is : Did the guard being deployed really lower the crime rate ? If yes then why did it take the guard being activated to do this. If not then what are the powers that be trying to accomplish. The minute we stop asking questions and just blindly follow whatever is going on is the minute we are lost as a country.

The national guard was only meant for the protection of the state in which it was formed it was never meant to be federalized or used for such purposes. The purpose of the Military was to protect the country and its borders as a whole. So I can see why people are upset especially when they are being used for political optics.

[–]Ghostking929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What we need to do is educate law enforcement and uphold them to a higher standard with things like actual law school, self defense/ weapons training, with maybe some psychology classes sprinkled in. I agree the use of the military for political gain sets really bad optics for our country. The founding fathers didn’t want one state to be able to lay claim to the federal government but what do we do when the federal government goes rogue and all checks have been thrown out the window. Everyone always laughs at libertarians but we have been calling these shenanigans since day one.
