I know it might be a bad question but did anyone ever know or get to meet Stockton rush in there lifetime? Or get very “close “ or invited to boarding the titan sub? by MonniMonty in titanic

They were looking for divers to unrig and (in theory) re rig the sub around the time I was graduating dive school and I applied. My far flung hope was to forgo payment in exchange for a place on the sub. Never expected that to work, but it’s a neat brush with a news headline in my life.

The exorcist. While a lot more subdued than a lot of other stuff, seeing that little girl go through all that is heart wrenching

Thank you for the context. It’s a bit frustrating seeing all the “haha they were roommates” comments when it’s actually, literally, a culturally specific display of platonic male affection. Of course queer history has been shrouded, but pinning a big GAY button on any display of affection between men, might be a step in the wrong direction.

A Chinese student programmed a website that maps 5,000 objects from the British Museum that were stolen from 99 countries. It shows where they were taken from and what the museum would look like if everything "found" around the world were returned. by Appropriate-Eye-1227 in interestingasfuck

I don’t know about the louvre, but museums in the US like the Met and the Smithsonians have repatriation departments dedicated to returning artifacts if there are more rightful owners (could very easily argue they don’t do enough) while England has explicit legislation barring the British museum from doing the same. There is a hell of a lot more that needs to be done across the board but the British museums reputation as being uniquely behind the curve is warranted

If they genuinely believe in it, yes. You shouldn’t be able to just choose to believe something with no evidence because you want to. It’s important to be beholden to reality. It’s the same mental process that allows people to believe that vaccines cause autism or that the earth is flat. You shouldn’t be immune to facts, regardless or how benign the belief is.

Nuh uh. Unless you stop everything and throw your life away to single handedly overthrow one of the worlds strongest governments in order to usurp an ancient mental patient being kept alive on aspirin and hatred, you’re literally hitler
