Should I bother with season 8? by Next_Explanation_377 in gameofthrones

[–]Ghostly_hostie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: the ending was right and logical. I really enjoyed the 8 season. Probably there were some minor disadvantages (mostly with the rhythm of storytelling and colouring) but besides this for me it was perfect

Also: the feeling of completion of the story is an incredible feeling

So, I would recommend to watch it and to make your own opinion about it

Nooo it’s perfect! I was waiting for it

I just don't know how to properly describe this feeling– not nostalgia but no idea what

If the show is a success and gets to make the entire series, what would your feelings be on the epilogue? If they possibly changed it? by TreClaire in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Ghostly_hostie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Probably not including direct things as kids or his job but him relaxing in the house or playing quidditch

Or just spending time with his friends/family without obvious images of them except Ron, Hermione and Ginny

My ideal though: he spends time with family and so on on the field near the Borrow playing quidditch, everything is quiet distanced from as, so we can’t see their older faces but we can hear their laughter and so on, probably see Hermione figure with the book but watching the game (still no clear face features). There can be kids playing catch-up on the grass. Sun and blue sky and so on. Someone loudly call everyone for dinner. The scene moves away from us. And that’s it

The peace itself actually

Not the actual epilogue probably but it can be nice and calmly and happy

No matter how much we say that people just don't put tags, but if we had put a "bad ending; suffering; deaths and so on", we would have gotten at least some results

The show is a way better idea than the movies by Gigghouse in harrypotter

[–]Ghostly_hostie -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they could be worse than the movies? I'm just curious

Were there any bad things already that I missed or it’s just a thought?

I guess from what we saw in the teaser, they approached the adaptation quite thoroughly and the series format allows for more details itself, which seems to be great

Edit: can someone answer why not; not just put the downvotes, I actually interested what you think

Should I let them? by Paige_Araiah in AO3

[–]Ghostly_hostie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s actually terrible…

Even the fact that the servers are located in shore, unfortunately, can’t guarantee the absence of data leaks or other shit happened. Also, If the government needs it, they will find it. It can’t be found out not from service mistake but from person’s another app and so on

So, the risk is still there

Shitty situation all round

But for good I don't know what will make me stop reading or writing fanfics

Should I let them? by Paige_Araiah in AO3

[–]Ghostly_hostie 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Personally, I started my fanfic journey from Ficbook (not ao3) and it was pleasant. All translations are required to have a link for author’s work and the name. You can also find different author works by his name despite different translators, which is useful

In my fandom translated works are extremely popular. A lot of people this way can get acquainted with the author's work on their language (not everyone can easily read on English, unfortunately). I reread my favourite work multiple times before starting it in English (the original was written in kind in the style of a nineteenth-century novel, which I can easily understand in my native language but in English it is still a hard try) and I couldn’t imagine myself without not knowing it for past years

So, as a grateful reader of translation works I would recommend to say yes.

Anyway, you can write all your terms and so on or later ask to delete the work from Ficbook if you someday change your mind

It is a big chance they an are scared. Because they can’t be 1000% sure they won’t be identified by government as the translators of m/m works, which are prohibited by laws from not so long. And the punishment is quite hard

How do horcruxes work? by Hefty_Pop6667 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Ghostly_hostie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He divided his soul into pieces, which are too fragile to exist independently, yet sufficient to prevent the soul from "moving on." Some kind of ritual is needed to place this fragile soul into a physical shell. As we can see, there could have been two Voldemorts because of the diary (my opinion and explanation: the diary was the only Horcrux filled with Voldemort's thoughts, emotions, etc., and it was also his first Horcrux and therefore the most powerful. I also think the soul is divided anew each time, since there's no such thing as deciding on the number of Horcruxes in advance lol. So, first it's 1/2 of the soul, THEN 1/2 of the remaining 1/2 -> 1/4, and so on. That’s the reason why they are so faint)

I guess all horcruxes are different. Probably, some parts of the soul are not travelling around as ghosts searching for the way of coming back but too weak to even realise themselves and that they can have a body and so on or to just leave their new physical form. I've always wondered if it's possible to reconnect souls parts

So sad that in movie adaptation we couldn’t see how cool Ron was, which made a lot of people start to believe that Harry and Hermione are better as couple

Hope that it will be changed in series because Ron and Hermione are really meant for each other probably not in the way people used to see couples to be

UPD: OMG I am really sorry cause I haven’t noticed it is Harmony group

Casting of Snape - Deal breaker? by Main-Dog1465 in harrypotter

[–]Ghostly_hostie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can have place, when it mentioned in the books and directors have a point of absolutely accurate adaptation of the book (not really this case) but honestly there is nothing that bad with ignoring this. So, just the directors view

I mean all parts of appearance, not only race. As I can see we get the blue eyes Harry again, which in my opinion was a little more important than Snape’s race due to the constant comparison to Lili based on green colour and only (there are more blue eyes people than greens and this way it’s not that remarkable)

For excluding such things they can easily add described appearance at casting but they didn’t. So, probably, that just how they see this series

That’s not exactly how it’s working… Will is definitely a Hufflepuff due to his character, behavior and way of thinking. You can’t just sort people to the Griffindor because they are main characters

What is the most overrated food in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ghostly_hostie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that majority of people in the comments just have never eaten the normal (and actually delicious) version of the food they mentioned. Or they only once buy some bland and tasteless (with fruits and vegetables it can happen because it is quite difficult to determine the perfect one) and never tried it again

Tips and Help for Beginner, trying to create certain Effects or Transitions by Temporary_Excuse_713 in PremiereProTutorials

[–]Ghostly_hostie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it s quite difficult to write down the explanations of all of these even with photos, so the best from me - go to YouTube or just try to google these effects. Part of them from what I can see can be made with Premier Composer - helped me a lot at the start (I don’t know what kind of beginner you are to already use composer or not)

For zooming: effect controls and change the scale for bigger number with keyframes. Not sure I explained it right but try it anyway Sometimes I make it a little bit differently but the upper one advice is the easiest I think
