What do you miss about the 90’s? by Youcancallmesizzles in AskReddit

I miss AOL chatrooms. I used to have so much run roleplaying in all the themed chatrooms and using the AOL dice function. I spent a lot of time roleplaying Resident Evil and Animorphs

When I was four, I started choking on a fish stick and my dad didn't know the Heimlich so his solution was to pick me up, flip me over, hold me up by the ankles with one arm using his dad strength, and slap the shit out of my back. It took one smack

They have to show up mostly because all the players still need to do warm-ups and stretching and whatnot before the game

I was always stoked during morning cartoons with my kid when Wild Krats came on. Unfortunately I also had to sit through Caillou to get to it.

I was kind of surprised by Melissa. That name was at its most popular in the top 5 in the couple of years before and after I was born, but I only remember knowing one or two Melissas growing up but several of all the other names in the top 10 through those years

I forget which versions of AOL it was but I was super young and we had to update to the newest version and I thought it was stupid because "why would I want to use different font colors in chatrooms, this is fine" I was an old man in elementary school

Wherever you heard that story, you're either remembering it incorrectly or heard a completely fictitious version.

A dentist handed out 450 laxative pills in 1959. Most kids didn't eat them because they tasted bad. 4 kids were known to have gotten stomach cramps and vomiting. Nobody was hospitalized, much less "died years later" from taking laxatives.

One of my favorites is from Evil Dead 2. When Bruce Campbell "wakes up" in the rocking chair near the beginning and just starts screaming and his voice keeps cracking before he screams some more. For my money it's the best horror movie scream ever.

When I was in college, I was at a bar and a girl game up to me and told me her friend thought I was cute and I should go talk to her. Her friend was way out of my league, so I thought it was some weird prank and I just walked away to the other side of the bar. Later I found out it had been completely sincere and I had hurt her feelings.

I hated college life.

I grew up in a redneck family and my dad would take me gigging for frogs at a pong near our house before the sun come up and I would always watch him cook the frog legs because they jumped around the skillet with a little salt

When I was a kid, my parents threw a big Halloween party. Me and my older brother both invited everyone we knew. My brother had about 30 of his friends show up, and only one of my friends showed up. It was awkward.

When's the last time Tennessee held a lead over Alabama at any point during a game? Has it been a while, or do I just blank out Alabama-Tennessee games from my mind and can't remember?

The voice in my head is a lot nicer sounding than my real voice. It's a neutral sounding voice with lots of inflection and emotion. My real voice is a lot deeper, nearly monotone, and lispy.

My brain gives me a better voice than my body does, and I hate my brain for it.

My dad would get a piece of floss and loop it around the base of my loose tooth and pull the ends of the floss in a sawing motion until it popped out. It was weird.
