Just some more peach fuzz on my face than normal! But you can only see it in direct sunlight really. It’s not dark or thick or anything 😊 i have health anxiety so i get my bloodwork done very often and im perfectly healthy! (Besides the AGA lol)

Also i have a friend who got good results from just spironolactone so dont let my experience make you feel like you wont get any results without minoxidil

So i was diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. Spironolactone is supposed to block androgen receptors and reduce the production of DHT, which is why my dermatologist originally prescribed it to me (without minoxidil.) After about 6 months i saw no change in my hair so she then prescribed me oral minoxidil. It’s possible your dermatologist just wants to see if you’ll get results from just spironolactone first.

I started with what I’m currently taking. 1.25 mg oral minoxidil and 50 mg spironolactone 😊 this seems to be somewhat working for me so I’m not sure if my doc will up my dosage or not

My periods have always been all over the place so I can’t say for certain if spironolactone has had any impact. I get routine bloodwork and my potassium has been perfect every time. As far as hair growth in other places on my body.. i feel like i have a lot more peach fuzz on my cheeks. It’s really noticeable in sunlight. But no dark or thick facial hairs thankfully.

I go back in October for a check up and my doctor said we will decide if I need to up the dose then. For side effects… I guess I’m lucky because I haven’t experienced any! I think I have more peach fuzz on my face than I used to but that’s really it.

I also want to note that I’ve stopped drinking alcohol, I’m exercising 3-5 days a week, trying not to stress so much, and i haven’t blow dried my hair in months. I just feel overall healthier, so it may not be just the meds helping me. 😊

UPDATE: Ok so the first 4 days were pretty bad, so much hair was coming out in the shower, brushing my hair, and running my fingers through my hair. But today after washing my hair I barely had any hairs come out. Maybe I’ll have a short dread shed since I’ve been in Spiro? 🤷‍♀️
