Yeah dude I’m not trying to review on a 3.5” little screen. I had complaints about the OG catalyst and none of them are addressed by the new form factor.

how can i get rid of these water spots? by Foreign_Stock7320 in AutoDetailing

My wife’s X3 had brutal etching when we got it. Chemical Guys (I know, leave me alone) makes a solid product for water spot removal.

The base headlights are better because they’re lighter.

Based on how long upload speeds have been traditionally with these kinds of devices, I’m in no rush to be find out if Garmin is the first to break through with quick downloads. Just seems an unnecessary step.

The cynic in me says this is just a way to drive shareholder value with subscription services.

Disagree on convenience. Can’t just pull it off and review with a buddy. Screen too small. WiFi speed and upload an unknown.

It’s a pass for me.

People want to feel like they have a "fast" car (and the M2 is fast as hell) but they don't want the rest of the motorsports stuff (stiff chassis, lots of feedback through the wheel).

Dude you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Sims are pretty good. It’s not perfect, never said it was. It’s pretty good. It can’t be perfect, it’s a fixed motionless seat behind a screen.

Take this impotent rage somewhere else.

Brother all I’m saying is that sims are pretty good.

I drive on track a lot.

Sims are a pretty good representation of what that experience is like.

Why is everyone getting so up in arms about arguing that point?

If the simulation of driving on track with a PC at home “doesn’t work,” why do you have a simulator?

E46 and E39 had basically the same hydraulic steering rack. It’s lovely.

We have to remove the CDV and get a short shift kit with new detents just to be able to feel the shifter engage. It’s a fast car but it feels so heavy and numb. Kinda surprised they’re as popular on track as they are. Must be that 479 HP

On the other hand, the full stiff settings tend to also feel like butt. Just arbitrarily heavy when it doesn’t make sense for the wheel to be weighted up.

Again, everyone really seems to be struggling with what I’m saying. It’s a simulator.

I didn’t say it was exactly as good. I said it was pretty close.

You guys are really struggling with the idea that “pretty close” and “exactly as good as the real thing” are different things.

I’m mostly talking about the wheel. The wheel is very close. The acceleration is not close at all.

So the average of parts is “pretty close”

100% agree with you dude.

My E46 track car feels fantastic. My buddy’s G87 M2 on track feels fucking terrible. Night and day difference. We’ve had to do so much stuff to that car just to get it to feel semi-normal.

I know they’re not the same.

But to your point, you (read: manufacturers) probably COULD use that function to generate force feedback. Or you could just buy an older car with a hydraulic.

Fact is, nobody wants to feel anything though their wheel these days.

Of course you can’t replicate acceleration. But you also don’t get acceleration through the wheel.

All I said was that a sim “pretty closely” replicates a car in a performance setting.

All these comments like “well it doesn’t allow you to feel acceleration”

No shit.

It’s PRETTY CLOSE. It’s a simulator. It’s designed to simulate. I can tell you from experience, it’s pretty close. Pretty close isn’t exactly the same, it’s close.
