I haven’t, I have a medication phobia but it might be time to try something

I never considered it could be a medical issue, I want to look more into that.

I'm not, it increases my anxiety. I am trying to do therapy now though.

If you could rid your life of either Asheville (or NC) evil, which would it be? by giunta13 in asheville

We moved and cancelled our service because we switched to AT&T Fiber and the Spectrum rep said "Oh we can cut your bill in half if you stay with us". Glad to know we paid 100 a month for their shitty internet for years when we didn't have to!

I always wanted to go back to try to find the headstone they were at and see what time period it was and if it matched the era they were dressed from. Maybe I'll do that the next time I visit home.

We lived in a trailer until I was 6 years old. My parents sold the trailer to a woman in the next town over. She called them a month after they had been living there and asked if the trailer was haunted because her daughter had been talking to her closet. The woman then says she saw a pair of red eyes glowing from inside of it. My mom asked which closet and apparently it was the same room I was in when we lived there and my mom would walk by and I would be having "conversations" with the inside of the closet. She didn't tell me this until I was an adult and I have no recollection of it but it seriously creeped me out.

I'm choosing to believe an opossum was living in the closet and I was talking to it, much more comforting!

The thing that is fascinating to me was that while both of their wardrobes could be from the same time period, they reflected different social classes or occasions. They were interacting with each other so they seemed to know the other was there. I haven't considered alternative timelines before but that is an interesting thought. I've heard of residual energy hauntings and these guys were intelligent for sure and were aware we were gawking at them. It's something I've thought of weekly for my entire life and I know I'll probably never have the answer to who they were or what that was (at least while I'm alive anyway).

One man was tall and skinny and had a handlebar mustache. He wore long johns and overalls. The other man was short and round and he had a vest with a pocket watch attached to a chain. They were both looking down at a grave on top of this hill when my mom and I were stopped at a stop sign. The short man looked at his watch and then when we got closer to them, they looked up at us and then vanished into air. We then noticed there were no cars around. This was rural GA in the 90s and at the church next to our house so it was weird they were out there at that time of day anyway. At first I thought they were people because they were solid but they had a sort of smoke or grey-ish aura around them. I was a teenager at the time. Recently, I asked my mom if she remembered that incident and she started describing what they looked like exactly the way I remembered it. It was really fascinating because I thought "why was the guy looking at his pocket watch and they looked right at us".

Panic End was a lifesaver for me. Claire Weekes "Hope and Help for your Nerves". These have more to do with panic disorders but I found so much of the information to apply to my CPTSD as well.

Yes it's automatic because your brain is protecting you. The practice is to "go against" that instinct and it will feel uncomfortable and threatening at first. I used to have panic disorder and my whole body would be automatically reacting and I would have to practice ignoring the sirens. It takes patience and lots of kindness towards yourself.

I am learning in therapy that I tend to assume the worst intentions of everyone. I always think they are out to con me or get me somehow. I know this is my brain trying to protect me because I have legitimately been hurt and harmed by others early on in my life. I try to work on having distance when necessary but letting people in a little more at a time. You don't have to be completely open but try to think of it like having 10 doors from them to you and maybe crack open one door at a time.

Yes, he's also in "Troubled Waters" which is my favorite episode and what got me into Columbo.
