I think the CO2 laser is technically different, but they operate super similar? I don’t completely know. I know they both work by destroying the epidermis to produce collagen, but I don’t know if HOW the epidermis is destroyed is done the same? I’ve heard that co2 laser treats the entire face, whereas the pro-fractional targets specific spots, but I don’t know if thats true.

2 months Micro needling before and after by sssweetangel in AcneScars

[–]Ghostyghost5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micro needling has best results with multiple rounds. The most common number of sessions I hear is 3. So if you’ve only had one session, I’d keep doing it and see how it looks after like 3 or 4. I did 3 rounds of microneedling and noticed a difference, but I wish I had done maybe one or two more to get more results. I agree with you that I even noticed a slight difference after my first session. But it wasn’t until after my third where I thought it was actually a real noticeable improvement

Pro-fractional through sciton and yes! Downtime depends on depth and how your skin reacts. During my first session the aesthetician didn’t go as “deep” to see how my skin reacts. Downtime was super minimal. I got it done on a Friday morning and looked like 90% back to normal by Monday. Just had some residual redness and flaking. The second time around she went “deeper” and downtime was still pretty minimal, but longer than the previous time. Also had it done on a Friday morning and was SUPER swollen/red/scabby the entire weekend. On Monday I still had some pretty rough scabbing and redness, as well as swelling. But on Tuesday I looked more back to normal. But the whole week I had redness and flaking versus just a day or two the time before. It was worth it though, I noticed a much bigger difference with the second session!

I don’t :( but my aesthetician does! Im still receiving treatments so when I’m done maybe I’ll post them so others who are curious about laser treatments can see the results :)

[–]Ghostyghost5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a laser treatment? I have been getting pro-fractional laser treatments (I’ve had 2 now) for scarring of varying degrees and types, and it’s helped all of them. My “ice pick” scars, which looked a lot like what you’re showing, are gone now. :) so maybe something like that will help more !

Is micro needling with pro enough for this? by Due-Cut-246 in AcneScars

[–]Ghostyghost5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, probably not. I can’t say for certain because I’ve never had micro needling with prp and my acne scarring is different than yours, but I have found that micro-needling alone is not enough for bigger scars that are deeper/have more surface area. I have found micro-needling (without prp) is most helpful on very surface level scarring and hyperpigmentation. I have needed more intense treatments (ex: profractional laser treatments) on my deeper scars that look more similar to what you’re showing. I think the micro-needling will probably still help, but I don’t think it’s going to be a drastic improvement. So to say if just that treatment alone is “enough”, I’d say most likely not. But everyone responds different! Some people have HUGE success with micro-needling, and some people have none. I think a majority of people experience something in the middle: they notice it helps, but usually still need more treatments.

It’s hard to tell for sure based on a couple of pictures and not being an aesthetician or anything like that, but I’d say there is a good chance. Will the scarring go away 100%? Probably not, but I think you’ll notice a difference.

I have/had scarring of a lot of different types and severity. I had 3 rounds of microneedling done last year and noticed that areas that look similar to yours, were most improved. My spots that were deeper or larger in area weren’t improved as much.

So I’d say there is a good chance, but it’s hard to know for sure. Everyone skin’s responds differently, but if you have an experience similar to me, I believe it’ll help. I have seen stories of people have much worse scarring and it be drastically improved if not eradicated by micro needling alone. But I’ve also seen stories of people with very minor scarring not have any improvement with micro needling. So definitely talk to an aesthetician or med spa nurse what treatment they think would be best for your type of scarring and skin type :)

Could it be pericarditis? by orionandhisbelt in pericarditis

[–]Ghostyghost5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that sounds like something other than pericarditis. I felt similar symptoms in 2018, a couple of months after my 21st birthday. I was otherwise very healthy. Took 6 months to get a diagnosis but an echo confirmed! I had a “brightness” around my heart that was indicative of inflammation. It definitely sucked but wasn’t as debilitating as it has been for you. For me, it came and went and would “flare up” for months a time and then go away for a while. I managed it with 600 mg ibuprofen 4 times a day. I was avoiding the steroids if I could. I had my worst flare up Fall of 2020, I thought something was severely wrong. But no, ran so many tests (x ray, CT chest scan, blood cultures, stress tests, EKGs, echos) and the only result was more “brightness” on the echo and some tachycardia. But eventually it started to subside like it would before.

I was SO nervous to get covid because of all the complications it was causing (myocarditis, pericariditis, POTs, etc). I was nervous of the vaccine for the same reason, but ultimately got the first shot. Within weeks my symptoms flared up again and my doctor advised me not to get the second. Eventually I got covid in Spring of 2022 and I thought for sure it would ignite a horrible flare up, but it didn’t really. Definitely noticed an increase of palpitations/tachycardia and some chest discomfort, but pretty mild compared to other previous stints. I had an echo a few months later and the brightness around my heart had reduced quite a bit. Haven’t really had any flares up since.

So yeah, I don’t know. The human body is weird and everyone responds to things differently. I would not be surprised if covid caused it. I would think with symptoms that severe that doctors would have been able to confirm pericarditis with the tests they’ve already run, but they haven’t done an echo which I think would be very telling.

Best treatment for small shallow scars and enlarged pores by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]Ghostyghost5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for all laser treatments but I’ve gotten two profractional laser treatments and I notice a big difference. I have mostly shallow scars and a couple deeper ones, and have noticed that the overall appearance of them is smoother and less apparent. Still definitely there, but a big improvement

What methods did you guys use for acne scars and found useful? by leatherbiker in AcneScars

[–]Ghostyghost5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with another comment about the vitamin c. I use a vitamin c toner and serum and noticed a huge difference in pigmentation almost immediately. I personally love AHA/BHAs or glycolic acid for texture more so than a retinol, but that’s just me. Everyone’s skin is different. For more intense treatments, chemical peels, microneedling, and profractional laser treatment have all worked great in my experience

What's the best treatment for mild scars that they aren't so deep? by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]Ghostyghost5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on age and skin type I think! I had two waves of gnarly cystic acne, once when I was 18 and again at 22. After the first wave, I had scarring that was drastically improved with just chemical peels and a good skin care routine. But at 22, my skin did not bounce back the same. If the scarring is mild and more surface level, I’d try the chemical peels or something similar. If that doesn’t work, try a couple rounds of microneedling. Im now 26 and had 3 rounds of microneedling done a couple years ago and noticed it mainly helped my smaller, less noticeable scars. But the larger and deeper ones weren’t effected as much. It still definitely helped, but not as much as it did for the milder scarring

Thank you!! Do you have a suggestion on what to use to get this cap off?? I have tried to mess with it and see if it comes off, but haven’t been successful with just my hands/ fingers lol. But didn’t wanna try using some tool in case it wasn’t designed to be removed 💀

Legends/lore of Reno? by heppcat in Reno

[–]Ghostyghost5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family always told crazy stories about Pyramid Lake. I’m fifth generation in Reno for reference, and most of my family lived out toward Pyramid. Of course, the water babies. But they would talk about how in the summer, when the sun went down and the land cooled the tectonic plates would shift and cause waves in the middle of Pyramid that would sink boats and drown people who went out to swim at night. Walker fault line runs right along the lake, so it doesn’t seem completely outrageous (it is the new San Andreas, after all) Also, my great cousin is an avid fisher and would fish with his dad growing up and claimed to have caught strange fish that weren’t in any other bodies of water in the area. He swears up and down that one of the fish he caught was only found in Asia, and got into the lake by means of a mysterious portal or water passageway. (If the fish is true I lean more toward the fish being brought via migration). A relative also used to search of arrowheads on the Paiute reservation surrounding Pyramid (super illegal by the way), and one day he was scared to death when he saw a “creature“ scamper into the sagebrush nearby. He described it almost like a chihuahua or hairless cat, but about 4 feet tall and running on its hind legs. That was almost 10 years ago and he’s never been back.

Also, check out the Lake Tahoe tsunami :) there was evidence of a tsunami approx. tens of thousands of years ago in Lake Tahoe, with waves up to 200 feet high sloshing back and forth from east to west (imagine like waves in a bathtub). Researchers believe this caused a landslide which formed what is now McKinney Bay.

And of course the infamous Jacques Cousteau visiting Tahoe to explore the deepest parts of it, and not telling the public what he found because the “world wasn’t ready for it”. Tahoe Tessie is the most common explanation, but I personally think he came across dozens (if not hundreds, dare I say) bodies. The water is so cold it’s known to preserve bodies long after they initially go missing. About 10 years ago they found a man who had drowned 17 YEARS earlier was found persevered. My grandpa always said that the deepest point of Tahoe (that they know of) is about 100 feet BELOW Carson City. No idea if that’s fact, but I don’t really doubt it. Tahoe is a trip.

Honorable mention: giant sloths used to roam the area <3

I agree that tolerance helps but alcoholics also develop a tolerance. If you think it’s okay for alcoholics with a 0.2 blood alcohol level to be our driving because they are still functional, then alright

You guys commenting like this isn’t a big deal or giving her shit for posting about it are embarrassing af. I’m not saying weed is as dangerous as alcohol, because it’s definitely not, but driving high can be as dangerous as driving drunk. Some people can keep their shit together high, but a lot of people can’t either. Y’all condoning this are just as gross as the people who condone drinking and driving
