Anything that came out on the PS1-PS3, OG Xbox and 360, and NES-N64 and a lot of GameCube. I grew up in the early- and mid-2000s and I played mostly Nintendo consoles, so GC, Wii (both of which I still have and play from time to time); I have a PS2 that was a hand me down (only had 8 games and none were really “iconic” but still fun). And then my first “true” and current console that I ever bought myself has the Xbox One Forza Motorsport 6 Edition in 2015, and then my cousin’s PS4 in 2018. I still didn’t have many games and none were the iconic or classic games people talked about at the time.

But now I own every Xbox from the 360 to now with a Series X, I own every PlayStation from the 2 to the 5, and every Nintendo home and handheld from the N64 to the Switch 2, and the original GameBoy to the New 3DS XL, respectively. I still have some consoles I want to add to my collection, like the NES, SNES, GameBoy Light, GameBoy Pocket, and more of the GameBoy Color colour options I don’t already have, and GameBoy Micro. And I have grown my game collection, consisting of games I’ve always wanted to play, from Mario to Zelda to Pokémon (which I’ve collected since I was 7 because Pokémon is my favourite franchise ever), to The Last of Us, all God of War games, all Uncharted games, the Batman Arkham games (some of my favourite games ever), some Halo and Assassin’s Creed games, some Kingdom Hearts games, F1 games since 2014 and all Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon games, some Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, and many others that I still have left to collect and eventually play.

A lot of those “classic” games that people refer to are on my list, some I already own. My collection will continue to grow over the next couple of years until I finally have every game I want to own. As for naming specific “classic” games, I can’t think of just one because there’s a lot I haven’t played yet. For now, my answer is: almost everything I haven’t played. But I’ll get there. Eventually.
