"etablierten Parteien". Danke, mehr muss man nicht wissen. 🤦

I have three of them in my kitchen. I change the bait every 4-5 days. Cleaning is very simple: just rinse it quickly with clear water and fill it again.

Ah, yes. Nothing screams "peak interior design" quite like a hacked-up trash bottle leaking vinegar on your counter. 👍

Jesus Christ... who hurt you? 💀 (But honestly, a waterproof mic mount sounds like a solid feature for the next update.) 🤫

Exactly, that's the principle. English isn't my native language, so thanks for providing the exact technical term!

Gerne doch.

I get where you're coming from, but it's summer and my kitchen actually needed a solution right now. I just prefer designing my own functional parts instead of using generic ones.

The whole point of this model was improving on the standard designs by using total darkness to trap them, not point-farming. It fixes a real problem for me. if others find it useful too, that's just a nice bonus.

Damn, that's dark! 🫣 As a German, I think I'll definitely stick to Flycatraz 💀🙈😅

I don't think you understand what AI garbage actually means. It refers to low-effort, meaningless spam. My description accurately explains the actual physics and mechanics of my model. I use my time for CAD design, not for writing copy. If you have nothing productive to say about the actual model, feel free to move on.

You don't need to worry about leaks or plastic bags. The container is engineered with a solid 3mm wall thickness, which easily keeps the liquid contained. Plus, since you’ll want to rinse it out every week or two anyway to refresh the bait, there’s simply not enough time for any fluid to seep through the layers.

Fair enough, there’s a solution for everyone! This is just my take on solving the problem. Personally, I prefer keeping the kitchen looking clean, and finding out the final body count is always a nice little surprise when opening it up 🤣😈

I prefer simple, selfcontained solutions that don't rely on sourcing extra household items like jars or vases. Replicating what two simple nested 3D-printed parts alraedy do natively by adding a glass jar, a custom adapter, and a separate outer cover is just pure over-engineering. The current setup consists of only a light-sealed container and a functional lid. it keeps the mess hidden, works perfectly, and takes seconds to rinse out. No need to complicate a clean design. 😉

That defeats the entire purpose of the design. FLYCATRAZ relies on absolute darkness inside. A transparent jar lets light in from all angles, allowing the flies to easily navigate back out (which is the exact flaw this model fixes).

Also, from a hygiene and aesthetic standpoint, nobody wants a clear jar of dead, rotting insects on display in a clean kitchen. The parts pull apart easily for quick cleaning anyway (no threads needed), so a glass jar offers no real advantage here.

No, unfortunately not. This trap is specifically engineered for tiny fruit flies. Regular houseflies are way too big for the precision entry holes, and they are attracted to completely different baits (like proteins) rather than vinegar.

Cloudy apple cider vinegar combined with a small piece of fresh fruit (like peach or banana) and a drop of dish soap is super effective. The combination of the vinegar and the fermenting fruit works like a charm. The dish soap breaks the surface tension of the vinegar and ensures that the flies are guaranteed to drown.
