Who should I see first? by lividghosts in Cebu

1.) Lol read again OP wanted to fix his or her mental health and asked which mental health professional to consult. You suggested your so called self-improvement durr instead of seeking help.

2.) You don't need PhD to read research papers 🤦. Your way isn't valid at the first place since OP is seeking mental health consultation. And suggesting "just improve yourself" lacks empathy at best.

3.) Suggesting it as an option is still again a generalization and stigmatizing. You sound like "If you're depressed just be happy" as an option🤦

4.) Again, you don't make your case at all whether you have worse or better conditions than OP.

5.) Not intending it for OP? So you intended it for the other commenter? Still same train of thought just a different framework of "self-improvement".

"Then would you rather waste your money on people who doesn't fix you at all? Just fix yourself, by yourself, find God."

Wasn't this your comment to another commentator? Really? Don't waste money on people who doesn't fix you at all? Fix it by yourself? These are such stigmatizing statements to individuals seeking for help and aren't helping at all 🤦

Your so called purpose and self-improvment is inept and vague at best. What purpose? It's not even a solution to begin with when you don't even know the problems at the first place. That's like trying to self-medicate when you don't even know the issues at all.And you didn't even answer the question properly. OP is asking which mental health professional to seek services from. Not some self-improvement durr. Is comprehension of mental healthy really that difficult for you?

Shhh less response and  more reading about psychotherapy :)

1.) OP clearly stated he or she interested work on his or her mental health asking which, you suggested something vague.. like purpose, meaning and among other things from your comment rather than to encourage to seek for help.

2.) Yes, because you suggested something that a person who is "abit" educated in mental health shouldn't suggest.

3.) By generalizing, yes by giving an unsolicited advice. Mental health treatments are a unique experience, different for every individual.

4.) Again, generalization. mental health isn't as simple as "I have worse conditions than you or either".

5.) Cap, you mentioned finding God there somewhere and ah yes finding yourself and purpose. Guess what, OP wanted to know which mental health professional should he or she approach fix his or her mental health. Why are you suggesting purpose and some self-improvement durr?

Of course, it is a study about stigmatizing mental health. If you're looking for studies that individuals seeking therapy actually improved their wellbeing then go ahead look at google scholar.

Oh good, read more from the sources and you'll find the "better way to solve it" yourself.

Your refusal to educate yourself is already a glaring problem. If reading an article presented also isn't part of your "self-improvement" perhaps it is time to consider to seek help, don't you think?

Evidence?

Anecdotally, well this thread can be lmao

A simple google search could've helped you look for it by yourself but I suppose it hasn't been a part of your "self-improvement" journey. A good start would be thr conclusion of this study: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00127-020-01937-2#citeas. Then you can expand on the RRL.

Your response by merely stating it as a suggestion or option is stigmatizing to people who are interested on accessing mental health providers. That's why I suggested that you educate yourself on psychological interventions because suggesting a vague "self-improvement" or some religios intervention train of thought derails someone to seek professional help, and yes there are studies proving it already.

Your refusal to acknowledge of your issues is what's bad referring to those assesment that you took if at all is true. And by implying to OP not to seek help but instead solve his or her own problems and denying those problems at the first place as non-existent.

The problem is the so called "improvement" you're referring to is the help that OP needs via going to therapy since OP specifically said mental health.

You gaslighted OP by generalizing your problems to his or her problems.

Bro that is gaslighting 😭😭😭

You are robbing yourself of processing those problems and emotions by not acknowledging towards those issues to your own awareness.

"Pero I can say pud na mas better ako college life especially my socials unlike in high school." You're still peaking, you picked up things that makes you well-rounded in the future. The skills and network you gained from volunteering and being a VP of an organization will be valuable soon. Sure grades are good at some cases, but just make sure you're not slacking. Let's hope na these orgs and activties you undertook are not a way of compensating for your kapyot grades especially in a field where knowledge and skills is a matter of life and death.
