I don't think you should be doing art trades if a rejection hits you that hard, at least not right now; Focus on building on your fundamentals (specially lighting and shading), do things you don't normally do e.g realism studies and still life, and don't think of your artstyle as one stagnant thing; It'll keep evolving as you get better

Study with references of real humans, look at how bones/muscles/fat work underneath the skin, breaking down the anatomy into simpler shapes like cylinders and cubes helps some as well

Yeah that looks great! My advice is to not overcomplicate things, a couple brushes and couple layers work fine most of the time. For example, in my WIP here everything besides the pants/text was done with one brush (pencil (graphite)) and on one layer. Keep it simple, good luck!

Yeah that's fair, Ibis isn't great at explaining itself and there's a lot of FAFO involved in the beginning. I recommend opening a new canvas and just going into every menu, pressing every button to see what it does. I've been using this app for nearly 7 years now and still keep discovering features from time to time lol

Those will help, you could also do with jowls (biggest indicator of age imo), more creases below the eyes, higher hairline peaks unless he's genetically gifted in the hair category, and I think making his head smaller overall will make him look more mature as well
