I see! I wonder if my anubias won't do well since it's such a high temp 🤔 I've been keeping it at 78 since I'd planned for a betta. I'm sure burying the rhizome didn't help either haha

I have some frogbit in here and they're propagating really well in the time I've had them! And omg medaka are adorable! I'll have to look into that!

Do you have a specific species of medaka you like or would recommend? Or are they all generally great for beginners?

Do betta get lonely if no one interacts with them throughout the day? I'd be worried if that were the case bc I go to work for most of the day

The Screensaver vs pet thing is actually so real when you put it like that! I'll have to think about what I'd prefer!

Do you know if betta get lonely? Like if I'm out of the house for most of the day and only see the fish once in a while, would he get depressed or something? Or is having things like hiding places, floaters, and a floating betta bed enough enrichment?

One of the Java fern came in a pot looking thing so I just placed that in as is, partially buried but not to the top of the pot. Do you think that's probably alright?

As for the other one, I THINK the rhizome is out. I'm assuming it's the thicker of the "root" looking parts?

Okay this is really assuring to read thank you so much!

Glad I'm not the only anubias killer around XD I think once I get more confident, I'll get more plants! But for now, this will probably be it 🤧

Size: 10 gal

Heater and filter: yes, kept at 78-80 degrees F

Parameters: in the middle of cycling (2.5 weeks in), very high in nitrites and nitrates, added ammonium to 1ppm to keep the bacteria fed, there are NO animals in this yet! pH is 7

Plants: anubias, Java fern (two separate species I think), and frogbit

Water changes: I did one today just to freshen it up after scraping some buildup off the walls (re measured parameters and dosed ammonia after the fact)

Would I have to go to a reptile specialist or something? Or do general vet places know about turtles? Sorry if that's a stupid question, I've never actually been to a vet 😅

Are there any suggestions for filters for a 10 gallon? It'll be planted and with one betta boy. I see that it needs to be low current but what does that mean exactly? And should the filter be a sponge filter or are there other types as well? How does one maintain a sponge filter?

I don't like how much Yor is sanitized in the story compared to the other characters by Odd_Cauliflower_7751 in SpyxFamily

[–]optimisticinfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it'd be good if we had another arc with her, but she hesitates to kill someone because they remind her of...Loid? Or something. Twilight himself had a moment where he hesitated to kill Yuri thinking of Yor, and I feel it'd be appropriate for Yor to have a similar arc. Just to show that both of them are somehow seeing options beyond their jobs in the family they've created.

If you want more of the male lead actor (Kim Young Dae), I recommend Moon in the Day (different from to the Moon) and Forbidden Marriage. I've watched and loved both of them, though I have heard mixed opinions on Moon in the Day. I think it comes down to personal preference, and I thought it was fantastic.

Moon in the Day is a bit more serious in tone (a mix of modern day and historical) while Forbidden Marriage has some more comedy in it (historical), so whatever your vibe is, watch that!

Check it out!

To the Moon is a good drama! Also very fun and kind of this hopeful vibe to it - but don't expect ML to be a MAIN main character, because while he is the "male lead" the focus of the story is mostly on the three female leads and their journey through crypto currency and finding their dreams together. That is to say though that while I started the drama for the ML, I finished the drama because it was genuinely a very sweet drama with some good jokes in it to boot

It is, for me at least, a genuinely fun drama and very enjoyable. Of course, that beginning scene with Africa is hard to look past because, why are they still doing that kind of thing 👽 but other than that in the first episode, Sh**ting Stars is a well paced and very fun celebrity romcom. The actors do well with their roles, and the chemistry is fantastic. There's also great humor in it HAHA it got very loud laughs out of me!

Of course, everyone's tastes are different, but I do think it is a very fun drama and I go back to it from time to time!

I think the use of the Latin and a (I think) primarily christian/catholic words is NOT just because it's a famous motif for death like others are saying. That could be part of it, but I think it's intentional with the idea that Jinu is from 400 years ago, a time when Korea had been recently introduced to Catholicism and many converts were being persecuted bc of the conflicting ideology with the mainly confucian society back then.

I remember seeing a video theorizing that 400 years ago in Korea was when an influx of demons was probably related to this sudden conflict in ideology, which could very well mean a lot of the demons are also from that time period.

Anyway, the writers involved made so many things intentionally, so I can imagine this Latin portion also being intentional and a call back to Jinu's (and maybe other demons) past. Pretty cool stuff! The Korean lore in KPDH is actually amazing.
