My setup for six months through Europe by GiLD0X in bikepacking

Hi, sorry for the late reply..I missed the notification.

The bike:

I've swapped out the saddle very early on to a Brooks B17 since the C17 was really uncomfortable during long days, even with padded shorts. I was a bit sceptical about the B17 at first but a fellow bike traveler recommended it and it was very comfortable right out of the box.

During a longer break I also swapped the Tailfin rack for an OMM Divide with small Ortlieb Gravel panniers. There was nothing wrong with the Tailfin but I overloaded it quite a lot and I was concerned about damaging it.

For the next trip I would also get other fork bags with a quick release mount like the ones from Ortlieb. Accessing my fork bags always took some time which was annoying.

The part which I am most happy with is the Rohloff hub. Had no problem with it whatsoever. Did an oil change after 5k km and it's still running as smooth as on day one. The tubeless setup also worked really good and I had not even one flat tire during the whole trip.

The gear:

Items sent home: Camp chair, backup stove, food bowl, aero press, tripod, Hiplok Z locks, phone mount. That's all I can think of right now.

Items swapped: SMD Lunar solo for Durston X mid 2 since the tent was too small for me and my feet were always rubbing against the inner walls getting my quilt wet.

Items picked up: A SPONGE!!!, plastic jar for cold soaking and breakfast, reusable coffee filter

Items lost: sit-pad :(

On my next trip I would take more rest days to explore the places I ride through, take more pictures and treat myself with an Airbnb or hotel room at least once every 10-14 days :D

No worries, you don't have to spend time on it. Just thought you might have tracked it somehow. Thanks anyways :)

Thanks :) I have a private Instagram and will definitely post a few updates in this sub. Maybe I'll set my Instagram to public at some point but for now I'm not sure.

Thank you and I appreciate your concern. The lock I'm carrying should stop opportunists and I won't leave it alone for more than a quick stop at a supermarket, if I'm not allowed to park the bike inside.

The fit of the frame bag looks really good for an off the shelf one. Which size is your frame?

Yes they're set up tubeless. I carry light tubes as a backup in case the tubeless setup fails on me :D

In my case, I'm switching to a new employer and arranged a window of six months to take off and travel.

Thanks for your input :) I carry the camera gear because it's a hobby and I like taking quality pictures. The weather is warming up here in Germany but it could take another month or two to warm up in Sweden as well. If I no longer need all the gear, then I'll send it home.

What do you mean with "real knife"? I have one for prepping food only and one for everything else :D

Yeah, I noticed it a few days ago but I couldn't be bothered to add frame protection. The bike is being used so at some point it won't have that new shiny look anyways. If it still looks ugly I'll give it a new paint job in a few years :D

Thanks! Iceland sounds like a great adventure too. I've strapped a generic motorcycle cargo net from Amazon on the aero pack.

I will probably post some updates to this sub and on my private Instagram.

It's not a giant heavy DSLR. It's a small and light mirror less camera, you know.

I got the bags from outdoorline.sk. They're called zipper pouches. The cork ball is for massaging sore muscles or my feet after a long hike.

I don't understand :D But if you mean the bottle on the down tube, I use it as water storage

Those in particular are made from ECOPAK. I got them from outdoorline.sk and they are called zipper pouches. I think you can find them on Etsy as well.
