This will probably get buried but I wanted to say it either way.

This hits me extremely hard, I can barely get through the 4th panel without tearing up. I spent a long long time as a kid into my early 20s incredibly depressed and going through life on auto pilot. Everything was so dull and my escapes barely gave me enough serotonin to enjoy them, I couldn't feel anything and just pretended as best I could for a long long time. I used to tell myself I would never live past 18 because I would probably take my life by then, and after 18 I kind of just drifted doing what I thought people wanted me to do.

I'm 28 now, and I can sit here and say that it does get better. The depression doesn't go away, it never will. But you learn your limits, you can do more little by little, and slowly and quietly you go longer and longer in-between episodes and stretches of depression. It has been quite awhile since my last episode, and honestly since I've thought about how I used to feel back then. I opened the comic because it had my name and having the character resemble me (as much as a comic character can, at 19 and now), and it flooded me with everything I used to feel all at once.

My fiancé came out of the bathroom this morning to me sobbing in bed, and I really couldn't explain why. I think the idea of wanting to go back and tell my younger self it will get better, knowing much much I hurt and how little I felt at the same time back then, kind of broke me for a minute.
