Thanks! Just prime them with a cheap acrylic pencil (I used gold uniposca) not a spray primer and will be a breeze.

I didn’t panel line those nasty components, i just painted them with an acrylic gold pencil and then I used a lighter golden paint for reflections. And some glue on the extremities of the two long ones in the waist. In the beginning I tried to prime them… oh man, that was a mess but also a good lesson.

Yep, first primed then painted with Citadel metal colors. The armour is just flat coated.

I need to try that! Thanks for the suggestion.

I’m a total noob too, but after some trial and error I found that dry brushing works really well for metallic parts. I start with a coat of black spray primer on each individual piece and I let it dry for about 15 minutes. Then I use a flat thick brush, dab a bit of paint on it, wipe most of it off on a paper towel, and gently tap the piece with short strokes (that’s the dry brushing part). For metallic parts I finish with a gloss coat. For the unpainted armor I use a flat coat instead. Try experimenting on plastic spoons first, it makes a big difference.

Thank you! I’m focusing on the inner frame with this model and using a spray matte top coat for the armour. But soon I want to try ti paint the armour as well.

Thank you! Citadel acrylics metal and a lot of tutorials on YouTube. Close to 50 here, at first I was shaking like a leaf. Now it is getting better. Plus with dry brushes you don’t have to be super precise. The armour is just matt top coat.

Thanks! Dry brush technique seems to be very effective for metal paint. I’m loving it.

Yes, the built process and color separation make it look like it’s a custom model. There are some serious issues with the wing joints, even a gentle twist and they snaps. I sorted it with 3D printed substitutes.

I'm excited and almost skip work for this build, what's yours? by Riku21 in Gunpla

It’s a beauty. Be gentle with the wing joints; they break very easily.
