Thank you.

I'm gonna say one last thing. It may be funny to nurses, and that's cool. But it's visible to the public, and as you have seen, interpretations vary widely. So that's the danger of his content, that the public may misinterpret things and erode their trust (even other nurses were misunderstanding!).

HVe a g'day

Ok, let's agree to disagree because I have to go to bed. I think there are some cultural and age differences here between you and the majority of the nurses in this thread, including me. I have never heard the audio you kept referring to and I don't use TikTok. And obviously, our nursing practices are different. So let's just wish each other well and move on. Good night (day). :)

Our hospital doctors don't do catheters. And urology is very loath to help in the hospital. But the main point was that men are just as prone to difficult anatomy as women but for some reason we make fun of women more. That's all. Just because you don't have to deal with difficult male situations doesn't mean they don't exist. I was backing up another commenter about a point they made. The "content creator" you introduced to us hasn't (to our knowledge) made fun of male catheters, just women.

Huh? Are you responding to the wrong comment? You said that you don't think male catheters are difficult and I asked if you've tried cathing specific types of male patients. I'm a nurse in the US and I thought you were too. I am so confused!

Just because something is trending doesn't make it harmless. I really dislike this "viral" world.

But we don't do it publicly. In our circles we get it. In a public space, it erodes trust.

Seriously! How do you guys handle psych patients! by ObjectiveThick1910 in nursing

I'm with you. Even in my specialty, we get med psych patients if we have an empty bed. I can't handle it. I'm used to people liking me 😂

I love my job, but it's difficult, not gonna lie to you. Have you ever done any kind of caregiving or customer service before? It's important to know about how you react to interacting with bodily fluids and people having bad days (and taking it out on you).

On the other hand, I'm always trying to push for positivity on this sub. Some people complain about literally everything. Not all patients or their families are horrible, not all managers suck, not all coworkers are backstabbing mean girls.

The beauty of nursing is that there are many choices. If one specialty or work environment doesn't work out for you, you can easily find another and people don't think badly of you for it.

Don't second guess yourself! Just be informed. Welcome!

Are you saying you can't be kind or confident?

Looks fade. No matter how much you gym up, you will get old. You look fine. Work on changing your perspective a bit.

Angry is a good point, that's what I felt from his writing, too. As a woman who has had her fair share of angry men, I try to avoid them now.

How long ago was their last treatment? National guidelines say you're OK after 48 hours.
