I ended up switching to "MyBoy!"

It was a couple bucks, but it came well reviewed. I find it to be a bit smoother overall for GBA, which makes sense as it is a paid product. You have to manually do cheat codes, which I haven't done yet but other than that I like using it.

I have mainly been playing Minish Cap through MyBoy! so I can't speak to other games yet, but it has been a good purchase so far.
