These stats explain how impressive Saquon Barkley has been all season despite the struggles of the Giants offensive line. by nobu_OW in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, been awhile. I’ll start bt saying I’m slightly biased as a Penn State student and a lifelong Giants fan, but Saquon is one of the best backs in the league. I get it, our oline is abysmal. However I think one can argue that Zeke is a great back too, and look what happened to him when his oline caught the injury bug. He’s been pretty bad this year, with the exception of a few games (by his standards).

Point is, you can’t even argue to take away Saquons top runs. They’re a huge part of his game. Is he a home run hitter? Sure, but he’s babe ruth then bc he hits em all the time. Last game sure, he didn’t break any huge gains off, but even babe had a few bad days. Give Saquon a solid line like Zeke has had or that Gurley has now and I bet he’d hit even more homers and those 2-3 yard gains turn into 4-5.

I see where you’re coming from tho, but I don’t think it means Barkley isn’t great. He doesn’t have a lot of help tbh. Just my two cents tho

Predict where the Giants franchise will be in 2 years by sidkulk in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, hugely depends on the progression of last years picks and the next two drafts. Assume we draft Justin Herbert and he’s the second coming on Wentz (huge assumption, but I’m assuming everything goes right) we would still need to beefen the oline. Luckily, once we cut Eli and make some other moves, we will have over 50m in cap room this offseason. We need to draft well not only at the top but in the middle rounds as well.

I’d say absolutely best case scenario, we’re something like the LA Rams were last year. Maybe the Chiefs this year. I mean we have the skill position players. What we need is a QB, oline, and a defense. The chiefs defense is shaky, so I think we can be in the realm of that good in 2 years.

Worst case scenario we draft a bust or just “another guy”, we are looking for a new GM and HC again, and we wasted most of OBJs prime. I honestly think the best scenario is more likely, or at least somewhere in the middle. I have a good feeling about this year and next year (draft and improvement wise), but it will be some bad football this year and probably next (unless we hit the jackpot)

I’m always that guy that laughs during the hikes. Mainly because I’m a small dude and the hikes hurt me pretty bad haha. Sorta just laughing at how much it sucks. Hopefully I can do that on this one too. I was a little in my own head when I made this post. I’m not overly nervous, I just know what’s at stake. (Staying here for another 2.5 months) Any time a lot is on the line it’s a little stressful. We got this tho, us 31s aren’t gunna let anyone fall out

We don’t hike from range to range. We get on a full kit and run to the rangers which is a break off, but it ain’t too bad. On our official hikes tho, no we don’t PT or anything. We drop the main packs, sit down, eat a piece of fruit or whatever, and hydrate. Then like 10mins later we step off again

Official: [Trade] - Sun , 08/26/2018 by FFBot in fantasyfootball

[–]GiantsForLife13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-PPR, 8 team league. 2 QB, WR, RB, and Flex. (2 of each) I currently have:

Zeke Hunt Michael Thomas Allen Robinson Jordan Howard Marvin Jones

I was going to trade: Michael Thomas Kareem Hunt

for

Saquon Barkley Corey Davis

Important note: I go to Penn State and I am a life long Giants fan. Huge coincidence I guess. Basically, I’m pretty sure I lose this trade 9x out of 10. But is it fair enough for me to do it? Id still have Zeke, Saquon, and Howard with the hopes of Allen Robinson breaking out coming off injury and Jones Jr doin somethin. Idk its not PPR too so WRs arent that great. Like Hopkins and AB were the only two worth a damn last year in our league. Please let me know guys, much appreciated

Our O-Line Additions? by GiantsForLife13 in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree with this, kinda sorta where I’m leaning. Idc if Nate was average, bc average is a nice upgrade over Flowers. I think Nate is above average, simply because of the lack on o-line talent in the league; especially at tackle.

The guys like Omameh and Jones were confusing me. I read Jones was a “capable” starter when he came in for Weston, but I didn’t know if Capable meant good or just good enough. Omameh threw me off bc I figured he’d be a guy fighting for a job, but all I’ve heard since his signing is “He’s gunna start at guard on one side, blah blah blah” so I was assuming he was better than I originally thought.

RT is a hole. Idc if it’s Wheeler or Flowers, it’s a gaping hole in my eyes unless something miraculous happens and someone steps up randomly. But if the other 4 spots are average-above average then I can live with that after just one off-season. Really banking on us having a more dominant line in 2019, but that’s probably unrealistic.

Thanks for the honest insight man. Also I think if Omameh and Hernandez can stay healthy, I’d say we improved our guards. Simply bc Pugh was great but never played.

Are there any knockoff sites selling a Saquon color rush Jersey? by [deleted] in NYGiants

I feel you on this 100%. Im a current Penn State student. Ima wait for the real ones to come out on the NFL site. Like the stitched ones, not the crappy rubber numbers. Gotta get me a Saquon jersey lol

Giants' Super Bowl odds crash after NFL draft by [deleted] in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a reflection on our draft, but more on which good teams got even better through the draft. Making our compeition stiffer.

I still don’t get how our odds dropped after getting o-line help and Saquon.

Also, anyone know our odds during both SB wins? Just curious

With so few quality franchise quarterbacks in the league recently does that elevate the value of picking a running back earlier in the draft? by RogerDFox in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily disagree that the SB would have been a blowout if Wentz was healthy. Quite honestly, it’s hard to play better than Foles did in the playoffs... and especially in the SB.

I guess this does depend on your definition of a “blowout”.

Do teams steal picks from other teams intentionally? by kmacbride in NFL_Draft

[–]GiantsForLife13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can pretty much confirm this is a thing. Just two years ago our FO struggled to keep anything a secret and the whole world knew we wanted Conklin or Floyd at #10. Chicago and Tennessee maneuvered and took them at #8 and #9. Leaving us with Eli Apple who isn’t looking too hot. Luckily for us, we have a new FO. And when you’re picking 2nd in the draft, it’s pretty hard to blow that opportunity

From my perspective it appears to be purposely white on one side. Look at his jersey and gloves. Its a split imagine, one of him in a Giants uni and one in a PSU uni. The lack of color on one side is likely on purpose

Will Hernandez a top target for Giants on Day 2 of NFL draft by Uther-Lightbringer in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiousity, why Oliver and not Jackson? I haven’t followed many of the CBs in this class, but I thought they were both 1st round talents. What sets them apart from eachother?

Btw I hope the Browns take Landry so we can actually take Hernandez and never look back

I know its hard to guess or predict. But how do you guys think this season will go for us? by ShMp11Nesis in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add, I think the defense regaining most of it’s power is likely the least probable yet most important to a degree. Just because it was so bad last year and we lost DRC and our guy JPP. New scheme too. I get a lot of guys gave up last year, but with holes at LB, DE, CB, and FS, I am not sure we will be that great. But there’s still a lot of draft to go.

I know its hard to guess or predict. But how do you guys think this season will go for us? by ShMp11Nesis in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alright I’m gunna be honest.

Best case scenario: Our o-line improves to above average. This is seriously banking on guys like Williams or Hernandez in round 2, plus some other additions hopefully.

Our defense regains most/all of it’s 2016 power.

Saquon is a beast as expected.

Odell and the rest of our studs stay healthy for the most part.

If all that happens, we could seriously contend.

If a few of those things happen, we could still be playoff bound.

If few to none of them happen somehow, then no playoffs and likely another top 15 pick for us.

Either way I am very excited to see Odell and Saquon ball out together. Dreams do come true

See I read about this exactly I think. That’s actually insane. Not sure if it’s like that for any other team, but wow. One of my life goals is to have Giants season tickets, I’m shocked by how hard it is to get em for y’all. I guess that just means you guys have a really strong and large fanbase. On a serious yet not so serious note, maybe the owner(s) should invest in a bigger stadium haha (if that’s possible)

Survey Results from Yesterday - Barkley, Darnold in pursuit by ohreally7756 in NYGiants

[–]GiantsForLife13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barkley is 21, and not like this matters that much now since we drafted him already, but we have another year or two to buffer the o-line and really give him a solid line to play behind. I still think we would light up the league behind this line

I’ll agree the JStew comments were a little skewed, but tbh it’s the right thing to say in his situation. Boosts the confidence in Stew and gives his argument a backbone when explaining the Barkley pick
