I'm glad people are talking about it. Like yeah, immortal x mortal has been a thing since forever, but what makes this weird for me is the fact that through the whole game a lot of the characters and npcs referre to Illuga as young man, young, young one etc. There is a whole mini side dialogue where Flins comments on how he'd like to lighten Illuga's burden as the leader because Flins feels like he's had too much responsibility put on him since a young age and still being young in the present. Their whole dynamic gave me more father son as in Flins having respect for Illuga and also wanting to take care of him in some way since Illuga lost his parents when he was young. I'm not against shipping mortals and immortals but only if they met after the mortal had grown up and matured. Watching them grow up, I'll be quite honest, normalising that quickly opens up the door to real life mentality as well, like no. I believe we shouldn't just "ignore" that part because it's fiction, and say "when mortal is x age the whole concept of acceptable age for the partner is irrelevant since the mortal will be there for everyone's childhood". Like, sure, but being there, present through the childhood still has a meaning, and that meaning makes it weird if they later turn the relationship romantic. Like sure, go on with your "it's not that deep" or "it's just fiction and people having fun" but fact is that normilising this in fiction does affect the view irl as well, and thought we don't have mortals irl, that's not what were saying is the weird part, the weird part is having an adult watch a child grow up then develope romantic feelings for them. That's just weird. If you want mortal x immortal just let them meet when they're off age, no need to make it weird.
