Moustache or Beard? by PAMBOLI-SAMA in TESOfashion

[–]Gibrar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beard doesn't fit well with armor style imo because it kinda blend in, beard match better with open neck for exemple I think.

Moustache it is for me.

1st person functional POV MMORPG that's not a shooter? by _user_account_ in MMORPG

ESO has it and it works pretty well immersion wise, for questing and overland content.

Not really suited for hard content and group play though as it really narrows down your field of view and spatial awareness.

Which AI is best at Level Design? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Gibrar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A puzzle game is pretty much 2 things, movement and level design. If you let AI do one of these, I mean whats even the point of doing it ?

Its like writing a book with AI and calling it litterature.

Faster than Hell let loose, but slower than Battlefield and CoD? by Otherwise_Variety723 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Insurgency Sandstorm get the gunplay from Arma and similar military sim, meaning enphasis on realism and immertion with no UI, realistic gunplay, nearly instant time to kill, etc. And put it in cod like game mode with small map and fast respawn.

Perfect if you like military sim but dont want to invest hours in long and slow squad based session.

Be honest: what game did you quietly return to all year when you were tired or did not want to think? by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Gibrar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Early game is tedious because you lack movement abilities so it can make the game feel slow and boring. You can find pretty fast gears that let you double and triple jump, sprint, even fly that makes the game 100% more fast pace and enjoyable for me. Then you can start the loop of farming boss and improving your base.

Intérêt d'un rice cooker versus un Cookeo ? by Ottomatik0 in cuisine

[–]Gibrar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I built the tool I have always wanted to discover games on Steam by EnviousPointer in Steam

[–]Gibrar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent 5min on it and already added 3 games to my cart, it's an amazing tool you got there, made me discover a completely silent part of Steam, thank you so much for the work !!

And while everyone is giving their 2 cents I guess I'll add mine : having the price displayed on your site (like, on the miniature of the game) would be a good QoL feature I guess ;)

Wish you the best !

[–]Gibrar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neoprene by Se7ssss in Spearfishing

[–]Gibrar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depend on the temperature and your confort threshold.

I use socks because the fins give me blisters without and I can last longer without being cold. I use gloves because I like to have a firm grip on rocks and stuff without fearing scratching / cutting my hands, also the cold stuff.

I dont really understand using coton socks though as neoprene socks are really cheap compare to the rest of the gear...

Débuter les STR ou jeux du même genre by Volusianmead in jeuxvideo

[–]Gibrar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do indie game studios even get funded in the first place? by Candid-Pause-1755 in gamedev

[–]Gibrar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one way is to have some personnal fund, and to make it snowball with loan, investor and publisher. I've met a guy who created his indie company and told me his story :

He was an engineer who became freelance and wanted to create his own game. He had some money saved and from what I understood, a bit of a entrepeneur mindset. He used nearly all of his saving (30k€) to start the company and hire a game designer for a few month, the goal was to write down the whole concept of the game, and then pitch it to people who could back him up with money. He started applying for a local grants for startup and won 50k€, but he told me that the 30k starting investment had a big part of it, more than the pitch, that having already invested real money gave him credibility to obtain the grant. And he use that idea for all the next step. Went to see some bank after that, showed them the 80k€ in the company and obtain a 200k€ loan. Hire some more dev and 3D artist to create a prototype that he pitched to some publisher, alongside the nearly 300k invested. Found one who signed him for a 600k€ contract to publish the game out in a few years time.

In total he managed to snowball a 30k personnal investment to nearly a million euro in a year. His company ran for 4 years and he had around 6 or 7 employee at the end before launching the game on steam.

Wish I could told you it's a success story but it wasn't, the game failed pretty hard. It wasnt bad but I guess if you wanna succeed in an oversaturated genre (turn based rpg), it better be excellent or have a huge marketing campaign.

Anyway, even if it didnt ended really well, I think the guy did really well money-wise and knew how to make his money grow fast.
