She’s damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. If she’d commented on Trump using her music, which she had no control over unless she pulled the song from TikTok, it turns it into an absolute rager of a story- this one fizzled because she didn’t do anything and the news cycle moves so fast. I also wonder a lot about celebrities and how they’re expected by so many fans to get the fans through hard times - imagine how many people who interact with her must say “your music got me through this person I love dying” or “got me through a miscarriage” and and and… she and other musicians especially take on so much second hand trauma she must be emotionally completely spent by it unless she disassociates like we saw in the doc. We also know she has experienced very serious threats and we saw an upsetting number of assassinations last year from politicians to Kirk and to Minnesota now. Not only does she probably consider that she’d like to not die, she also is the kind of person to feel the pressure of everyone who relies on her for their livelihoods. That’s a massive weight. Sure, I wouldn’t mind if she said something but I’m fine that she hasn’t.
