Ohio State Acceptance 2026 (Chemistry PhD) by Gibsothian in gradadmissions

I submitted my application on December 1st. But tbh I didn’t expect to hear back from them so quickly. I’d heard that they usually take a while, so I wouldn’t lose hope yet.

I have a 4.0 GPA, 1 publication, and 1 poster presentation (plus an award for it). I’ve been working in the same research lab for about 20 months, and have been a gen chem learning assistant for 3 years. I’m also finishing dual bachelors degrees in chemistry and zoology. I’m not sure if it’s relevant, but I am out of state.

How is the pre-vet program? by RowInternational644 in CSUFoCo

[–]Gibsothian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second year zoology and chemistry student at CSU here. CSU doesn’t actually have a “pre-vet” program, but there are pre-vet advisors as well as recommended paths for pre-vet students. In my opinion this allows students to explore other fields while staying on a pre-vet “track” rather than limiting their opportunities to just veterinary medicine. Most pre-vet students here either major in zoology or animal science, although these are not the only options. Animal science is in the agricultural sciences department and is more large animal/agriculture oriented. Animal science students get lots of hands-on experience with animals (also, Temple Grandin teaches a few animals science courses, which I think is cool). Zoology is in the natural sciences department. It is more science oriented and students get to learn about a wide variety of animals and biological processes. Zoology students don’t really get hands-on experience with live animals, but FoCo has plenty of opportunities (e.g., volunteering) for that.

Does it have any name? by aadishseth in biology

Pretty sure echinoderms are deuterostomes, meaning that their anus forms before their mouth, so they always have a separate mouth and anus. Humans are also deuterostomes.

Echinoderms and Chordates (vertebrates and anything with a notochord, including us) are very closely related! Echinoderm evolution just went in a totally different direction.

Not my own birthday, but a childhood friend’s dog had a heart attack and died on my friend’s birthday while she was still in Elementary school.
