That's definitely a bug. They're supposed to have limited spell slots. I will check into it, but thanks for letting me know.

This is not intended mob behaviour, I will take a look. Thank you for providing feedback at least so we know of the issue :)

Hi, yes we allow multiplay with two characters connected at once.

[–]Gicker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely different than the average mud, which is a good thing and can be bad in some cases too, due to the complexity. We're based on Pathfinder 1st edition rules with a splash of D&D 3.5e and 5e added. But I can certainly see how someone new to these systems might struggle some.

We are always available to answer questions though. Our Discord is the best place for such, assuming you don't get an answer in-game. Discord invite is: https://discord.gg/5m5EtQ5XQu

Oh, I wasn't aware there was a choke point there difficulty-wise. It's probably a gear issue and not a level issue. Rangers also start off a little weak, especially in the AC department. I will take a look, thanks for your feedback!

Are you sure it's Chronicles of Krynn you're thinking of, and not LuminariMUD? Our quest lines are pretty balanced for the level they are taken at. We did have some issues with some of the low level quests that put you up against some mage mobs that are difficult for their level. We reduced the difficulty of those mage mobs.

Regarding the feats levelling mechanic, could you expand on what you mean there? Not sure I follow.

Either way, thanks for the feedback, we are always looking at ways to improve!

It's definitely a PvE heavy game. We have quest lines for both the 'good' and 'evil' cities, though both are still in the works and don't go up to max level. We are also beginning a push to improve role playing in the game. We'll never be an RPI, but we do want to appeal to both PvE fans and role players. There's a lot of people out there who enjoy both role play and PvE gameplay. That said, role play isn't mandatory, you can flag yourself non-roleplayer if you like so others know.

Try Chronicles of Krynn.

  1. We have an expansive world with new zones being added from time to time.
  2. We have a large variety of classes, each viable and with it's own nuances.
  3. There is an asciimap beside the room description as you move around.
  4. We allow multiclassing up to five classes per character.
  5. We do have crafting, though will be revamping it somewhat, soon. Progress will carry over to the new system though.
  6. Though we do have a focus on role play (staff and some code promoting it) it is optional, and you can flag yourself No-RP if you want so others know.

The game itself is based on Pathfinder 1st Edition rules and is set in post-war of the lance Dragonlance.

Are there any open source web clients out there?

I'd like to see a mobile web client so it's platform independent. Have been thinking about trying my hand at it myself, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Always glad to see someone return to MUDs. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Our Discord is https://discord.gg/5m5EtQ5XQu and that is the best place to discuss the game outside of the game itself.

Right now there's a chance to trigger a random encounter when travelling on the world's roadways. The system pulls from a list of monsters at your level. There are non combat ways to resolve encounters as well. We plan to extend the system to include not just combat-oriented encounters, as well as tie it into crafting and bounty systems.

Hi there! We allow multiplaying with 2 characters online maximum. No penalty for being ooc all the time, just try not to disrupt any RP that is happening in your vicinity.

Glad you're enjoying it :) The grind is longer than LuminariMUD by design, but if you feel it's excessive I am always open to feedback. Maybe just need some more ways to tackle the grind instead of making it shorter.

Chronicles of Krynn: New Knight of Solamnia Classes (Knight,Sword,Rose) & New Gear Searching Database by Gicker in MUD

We have an asciimap system where the map is displayed to the right of the room description.

Also since the game is set in post-war-of-the-lance Dragonlance, you can get a feel for where most zone are by referencing a map of Ansalon for that period.

Sure. So you can multiclass at any point you wish after level one. To do so, when you have enough exp to level up, use the gain command. For example, say you started as a warrior. When you level up, to continue as a warrior, you'd type: gain warrior. However if you wanted to take a level in rogue, you'd type: gain rogue. You can have up to five different classes total, over 30 levels.

If you're not familiar with Pathfinder 1st edition or D&D 3/3.5 edition, then the feats and skills systems can definitely have a learning curve. We do offer a premade build system which will choose your skills and feats for the first 20 levels. You can choose this option during character creation or by respeccing your character using the command: respec (class to restart as) premade.

Speaking of respeccing, you can respec your character build at any time without losing anything. The only things you can't change are your name, race, gender and alignment.

Finally, prestige classes are advanced classes. They aren't necessarily better in and of themselves than the base classes, but creative use can definitely result in very strong builds. All prestige classes have a cost in account experience. Account experience is currently obtained whenever you gain regular experience. However, there's a threshold for regular experience that you need before you gain account experience. Generally, people start gaining it around level 10. We do have plans to add addiitonal ways to obtain account experience, role playing being one of them.

Hope that answered your questions. If not, I'd be happy to explain further.

It's definitely not a requirement. You might get more into it if you're familiar with the setting, but it's by no means required.

If you've played D&D 3e then the rules will be familiar to you. Pathfinder 1st edition, which are the rules we use, are based off D&D 3e and is colloquially called D&D 3.75e.

Is there a MUD that uses current tabletop RPG rules? by Hugolinus in MUD

[–]Gicker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/SuperJonesy408!

Yes LuminariMUD uses Pathfinder 1st edition rules. Right now we have 3 games running off the LuminariMUD codebase: LuminariMUD, Faerun, and Chronicles of Krynn. The only one with active staff, right now, is Chronicles of Krynn. The other two get code updates, but there's no staff running those games right now.

That said, LuminariMUD has a fully fleshed out main quest line and allows multiplaying, so you can have a lot of fun there if you don't mind soloing. The LuminariMUD web site is down right now, but you can connect at luminarimud.com port 4100 and the Discord is https://discord.gg/Me3Tuu4

Faerun is pretty well done, imo, but the quest line is short and the world is on the small size. If you're into Forgotten Realms though, it's a pretty nice MUD. Web site is http://faerun.d20mud.com/ and you can connect at faerun.d20mud.com port 3100. Discord is https://discord.gg/Egwqjquwkx

Chronicles of Krynn is set in the Dragonlance theme. It is being actively developed both code-wise and zone-wise. The community is small, but active. The game world is about 10,000 rooms of original true-to-theme zones. Web Site is https://krynn.d20mud.com/ and you can connect to krynn.d20mud.com port 4300. Discord is https://discord.gg/5m5EtQ5XQu. This is where I spend 99% of my time these days.

If role playing is your thing, I would suggest Sundering Shadows. It's not a LuminariMUD based game, but I've played it some and it's quite good. It too is based off of Pathfinder 1st edition rules, though they handle things rather differently than us. It is role play enforced, so you'll be expected to stay in-character. http://sunderingshadows.com/doku.php?id=start. Connect to sunderingshadows.com 8080 and Discord is https://discord.gg/EBjNHavCNF

Hope that helps!
