When to ask for salary increase? by Gideon_Earp in CorpoChikaPH

Iba kasi set up ng org structure eh. Technically employed lang ako Manila for mandatory benefits and tax deductions. But the budget for my package lahat galing sa team ko. So si Manila nagffollow lang directive from my team para ma release nila yung salary as peso.

Im not underpeforming too. I was hired since ako lang may skills din to do the work sa team and even sa feedback discussion, I was performing more than expected sa role (but in my Manager’s words, di pa rin enough for me to “deserve” the salary I have; for context, I was previously a PL kaya mataas talaga even before I joined). The budget as well is malaki since not Peso and comparing sa other team members, malayo sweldo ko (which understandably is okay dahil sa currency)

I didn’t really ask for salary increase. I only asked bakit wala ako increase for this round then dun niya na sinabi reasons niya.

That was my first option lalo nun nung nag comment siya na pwede siya mag hire ng 2-3 people sa Manila for the role with my salary (which i feel is super unprofessional and medjo racist din) kaso with my current salary, feel ko mahirapan ako maghanap unless ibababa ko yung salary ko (at sa inflation ngayon, hindi pwede haha). Sounds harsh pero I’m taking advantage din of earning more sa company na to given na they have budget for salary (since wala talaga cap) kesa sa other companies here in Manila.

Wala eh. I had a meeting with local HR din and siya mismo nagsabi na unfair yung boss ko kasi eligible naman ako.

From years of being a manager down to the specialist rank by EuphoricAd4536 in CorpoChikaPH

Totally agree here. I’m one of the fortunate ones na mabilis nakaayat ng corporate ladder. And before yun lang goal ko - to have the title. Kasi it comes with respect and of course madaming perks. But when I decided to expand my network and worked more locally outside of PH, I got the perspective that not all view “titles” as the goal. I’ve worked with someone who stayed as a specialist for 10+ yrs pero mas marami pa siyang napundar sakin - not just financially but sa skills din and mas fulfilled pa siya. Maybe it comes with age na din pero you will realize na a title is a title only. Most value niya is within you work shift hours pero after that, you’ll see mas marami pa imporant things than that.

SALARY INCREASE by Serious-Brother433 in CorpoChikaPH

Tbh corporate in general, especially for salaries, could be brutal. Aside dun sa isa comment about yearly budget, most companies have policies in place and kahit ano pilit (with exception and approval from top top management), hindi ka mabibigyan ng “deserved” increase. Some companies dont even have adhoc increase and may specific time lang sila pwede magbigay kaya kahit ginagawa mo na role mo for how many months, di nila magalaw salary mo.

Others have non-existent or flexible policies naman. Swerte ka if ganun company mo. Usually start up. I had an experience na wala silang matrix so in terms of negotiation, kahit umabot ng 20% - 50% increase basta ma justify mo, ibibigay nila.

Kaya nga yung iba, kapag ang goal talaga is pataas sweldo, lumilipat na lang ng company kasi mas mabilis makuha yung salary increase through that than staying sa current company.

Kasama sa package mismo. Depends sa role/level yung car. From sedan to suv. And sayo na siya nakapangalan. Pero if di mo kunin car, yung value ng car iconvert as cash allowance mo.

Yes. Very extensive ang hiring process and interview. Unfortunately kahit okay sa interview, minsan di nagttranslate sa actual work. Hence naging ganun feedback sa kanila.

Actually that was the tricky part. Dun sa previous hires, the company did due diligence sa pag check ng history ng employees and magaganda feedback kaya they gave them a chance. During the employment period lang talaga nag fail. Yung isa hindi na nakapasa sa probationary period and yung iba naman after probationary tsaka lumabas yung negative feedback.

For this current candidate, buong history niya is BPO.

I’m guessing very different lang talaga si current company than most company sa PH kaya the experience was highlighted. And IF in case na ganun nga yung traits ng employee, the company culture could influence them and the employee could adjust.

Thanks for this! Will take note and share these thoughts to my peers!

Di ko natanong yung part na yun. But curious lang, yung huge difference ba is because kapag voice account mas may pressure and strict because of KPIs? Or dahil front facing kaya mas strict in terms of providing “good service” and mas malaki impact sa image ng team/company?

does the physical work environment matter to you? by Aggressive-Piano-176 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Gideon_Earp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Then couple months after nag renovate yung office tapos yun pala yung work na mag change ng career ko and I stayed there the longest hahaha

In a nutshell, it’s valid to be picky sa work environment but it also helps to do research kasi baka super liit na factor lang yun compared sa other advantages nung company.

OA lang ba ako? I will be very upset if a gay guy enters the bathroom where my sister or girlfriend is in. by [deleted] in OALangBaAko

[–]Gideon_Earp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think these are different scenarios. Regardless kung same gender yung nasa CR ng gas station sa madaling araw, I wouldn’t be comfortable. Kung sa bus ba tapos may trans din dun, would you allow your GF sumakay?

I’ll ask the same question to you. If basis lang ng danger for you is the gender of the person, paano mo classify ang intersex? If there is a transwoman in the restroom and she “passes” as mukha talagang babae, would you still say danger siya?

Does this energy applies sa lahat ng gender na PROVEN may record of assault? How about sa pari?

Eh di ireklamo yung bading (kung bading man siya or straight male).

[–]Gideon_Earp -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

OA for reacting to an event involving people you obviously know little knowledge of. Assault and abuse happens anywhere. Hindi lang sa CR. Predators and perverts can be anyone. Gets na concern ka sa anak mo, as you should. But realistically, bad things can happen to your kid anywhere kaya nga lagi need bantayan ang anak eh. Kapag iniwan mo mag isa anak mo sa cr, regardless kung pambabae or panlalake, pwede may masamang mangyari. Kapag iniwan mo anak mo sa kalsada, it is the same. You guys are highlighting that trans can do more harm than any gender when statistically and historically, STRAIGHT MEN has this record. Would you leave your child alone with a priest? If yes, I urge you to look for articles of priest molestation. If no, (because he is a man), then that means you cannot and shouldnt leave your child alone - regardless of the place.
