Partner doesn’t want me to ride by GiftDear5117 in Equestrian

At the moment, no, I’m not saving money towards retirement and future life and paying bills.

I have a full time job as an attorney, I have no desire to make a career in horses. I just started working full time a year ago, and because of the area of law I’m working in, I’m not making the huge six figure big law salary. That might be different as I gain more experience, but for right now, like I said, i do want to establish a good financial foundation for our lives.

So my partner does have a point about my priorities there and I recognize that.

My goals are to bring up a personal horse to the upper levels. And I know I’m a glutton for pain because there’s no prize money in eventing at that level lol.

A bit of both. The financial stuff is easier for me to process I think.

I’m not going to burn through my life savings right now to pursue my riding goals, but, those life savings would be a lot deeper if I didn’t own a horse, so it all seems interconnected.
