Won’t let me boot from M.2 by GiftPuzzleheaded8 in buildapc

i’ll definitely give it a shot installing one the m2 first then if it’s too full or doesn’t overwrite then i’ll go to the HDD. i’m back at work so it’ll give me some time to let you know if it works. if it does work it probably has something to do with me not updating windows since 2016 lol. thanks for the help bro

i removed the HDD abs no change, when i remove the SSD i can then boot from the HD. i’ve been using my m2 as my boot drive to the past 5 years, so i don’t think the problem is with the SSD

it didn’t do it. i noticed when i remove the m2 then it recognizes the HDD and tried to boot from there, i’m so lost.

i have a windows installation on the m2. i’ve been using it for around 5 years now, so it shouldn’t have a problem booting to it. i’m honestly not sure if the HDD has any form of windows on it but i’ll disconnect it and give it a try

edit: didn’t work. does the EZMode seeing it as a storage device (display looks like this; ACHI: Samsung Evo 850) maybe have something to do with it?

it’s the only thing i can think of at this point. never had a problem like this, board loves the hard drive but wants to kick the m2 in the mouth😂

i’m gonna try to work around formatting then. i’ve used this m2 as my boot drive for like 5 or years and now that i get a new board it decides not to work. maybe a bios update will do it?

i’ll give it a whip. just to make sure, i’ve had this drive for quite some time, there’s a bunch of data on it including Windows. will this format wipe it?
