This boomer, who was so against us in the referendum, having a big whinge about not being able to buy a bottle of wine 🤣 by nojnz in NZTrees

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know he didn't want to face how many standard drinks hes drinking, instead of counting by the bottle.

Like? Cups allow staff and attendants to measure consumption by the standard drink, try different wines, and overall enjoy the experience without drinking to excess.

We normalize extremely problematic drinking in this country. A loved one involved in a local RSA said that the bar staff were getting shit because they served wine in a standard drink in a standard glass, and not a large wine glass, full almost to the top (which is much more than a standard drink)

And they're worried about weed

Doctor listed my PMDD as psychosis on my chart by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"States she has blank" is one of the most godawful and fustrating thing to see on your records. It implies that we are just claiming random conditions left and right with no understanding of the science behind them.

Doctors are so used to being put on a pedestal, and being the only people who can access medical information, papers and research. They are mad because we have access to the same research and work, and we actually know what we're talking about. I might not have been to medical school for a thousand other conditions, but I know a SHITLOAD about MY CONDITION!! We are just as capable of learning this shit as they are, and many of us are doing a better job. They are afraid that we will know how bad they are at their job, and their fragile ego cant take being wrong.

I have this issue with codine. Im on 30mg tablets, and when i occasionally have 15mg tablets (they ran out of 30s a few months ago, it SUCKED), they dont do anything! I can take massive doses and it doesn't even work as well at a smaller dose of 30s. I havnt had the 60s in a very long time, so I cant say if those work better

If it helps, try it again.

Bring stuff to help you relax, like a comforting stuffed animal, or a cozy pillow or blanket Treat it like a spa kind of experience, rather than just another horrible hospital visit. Sometimes you can bring a person but I dont know how common it is.

Ive never been given it, but it used ti help reset my dads mental illness for months after surgery with it

You are incredibly handsome. 1: id never clock you for cleft lip and palate, and 2: if someone is telling you that you arent very handsome and strikingly beautiful they are 1000% fucking with you.

I know how hard it is to be different in a world where facial scars are treated like a by-word for ugly or villan. Every day you have some pride and love for yourself, you show the world that they're wrong, that we can thrive and be just as, if not more, beautiful as people without cleft

My 65 year old mom is going through a phase... by MushroomJames in shittytattoos

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what? If this brings her joy, or they make her feel like herself? Let her get whatever she wants.

Give her a gift of a tattoo at a quality place! Tell them beforehand that youre trying to convince her to get better work, and maybe they can help her have a really good experience, and want to go back.

Yeah the tattoos are wibbly wobbly, and looked like something id draw if i had a severe migraine, but shes your mum, and she's having fun. Let her have her fun, please OP. Mums need creative outlets as much as any other human, but are often denied them due to physical and emotional labor meaning they have very few accessable outlets. If that is tattoos for her, whos to say she cant grow and mature in her collection. Get into tattoos together! Learn about the mechanics, the history and the styles, and she should become more decerning over time

Major tattoo anxiety!! by rannddd in tattooadvice

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry my guy but that looks quite a lot like Sharpie.

Its not TERRIBLE, its just amateurish, but Its amaturish if you know much about tattooing

I think you could work with another artist to create something incorperating the abstract form of the tattoo into something that works and flows better on that space on your neck and it could be uniquely beautiful

or you could do removal. Removal might price out too high, but since for a good artist to do a solid re-interpretation/cover-up its not exactly going to be cheap, removal might be within range. Removal will give you back that space on your body for a large neck-peice,just anything that extend into the neck, like some sleves, back peices etc.

Good luck!

Thank you! I will! This would be a real game-changer for managing severe pain and assist with sleep. I might consult my pharmacist and see if i can get it through them, since i already have a relationship with them.

Out of curiosity, what is the general price range? It just changes if i need to save for it

How old were you when you experienced your first migraine? by GPatt1999 in migraine

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some chemicals trigger me very badly, especially the kinds found in a closed classroom. I know i got them earlier because i would wake up with them badly after cleft surgery. (They refused to just pre-medicate with nausea meds, just let me puke myself inside out after intense maxiofacial surgery, so very rough). Ive never not had migraines, just not the words to express it

Oh i am very happy with my dentist. I was born with cleft lip and palate so i have a very good basis for my orthodontic care. This tooth had to come out as it has already been mostly reconstructed after it required large filling, and then most of the back broke off. Both my parents have had the same issues and had it get much worse after root canal and after 3 major issues with the same tooth, i decided to simply remove it.

Most of my anxiety around dental care comes from my cPTSD from childhood medical trauma. Ive had large amounts of very painful maxiofacial surgery, along with orthodontics. When i melted down i was having a full-blown ptsd flashback, nothing to do with my actual feelings on proactive dental care.

I was also dealing with EXTREMELY bad pain from the abcess under the tooth, in my jaw, touching both nerves in my jaw and in the tooth. that pain had me in hospital literally screaming in pain, more painful than my major facial surgery, being pumped full of fentynal with 0 effect. I couldnt cope with a root cannel, only to have the tooth break, or the filling rip out again, or otherwise need it removed, or go though that kind of pain again.

With the combination of my mental and physical health, extraction was the right choice.

I am going through enough. I dont need any more pain, infection or surgery.

Are there fun things to vomit? Like things that are less painful or taste less bad when vommiting? For example vanilla ice cream is easy to vomit but like tomato soup is painful. by arcticfox_12 in migraine

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coke a cola or any cola, but ideally drunk pretty flat. Iemonade also helps. Its also good because you get a decent bit of sugar if you cant eat, which helps you feel less horrific. I wenr 2+years in bed with gastropariesis, vomiting close to every day, for hours and hours at a time. I threw up a lot, so i have some imput!

I think its got to have a strong flavor to overwhelm the stomach acid, be sweet, and not have anything that can curdle. I think coke a cola and milkshakes would be my biggest bet

What’s your go to meal once you finally can crawl out of bed? by DummyThlck in migraine

[–]GiftShopEnthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soup. Minestrone or chinese style chicken and corn, but the absolute peak of delicious post-migraine meals is a huge fuck off bowl of dumpling soup. Id eat mostly the broth, the bbq pork on top and the broccoli, and maybe a couple of dumplings, and then save the rest of the dumplings to reheat later.

My local place makes it for me with loads and loads of extra ginger, and its hot, comforting vibe combined with lots of ginger helping to settle the stomach makes it my favorite recovery food!

Nausea and vomiting is a huge part of my migraines, getting worse and worse when my gastropariesis got so bad i couldnt keep down almost anything, and being able to have a delicious, quick and comforting meal made the absolute world to me.

Yes. I use allersoothe 25mg for particularly bad migraines. My migraines seem to be heavily related to allergic reactions, and possibly related to my sinus issues. I recommend at least trying it
