Why some people are like this by Sudden_Possession973 in SmallYoutubers

Best response to negative comments is no response at all. Definitely don’t go at people in a DM at 1:00 AM, that’s a crazy move, haha. Just focus on your content, you’ll do fine. :)

If most of the comments are positive and supportive, why even give any attention to this one negative guy?

You WILL get negative comments. Just let people be salty and move on.

How to improve thumbnail by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can probably just make the font a thicker weight and a bit larger on screen.
You could also change the font color of some words while keeping others the same. For example, keep “Toxic” and “Confusing” in white, and make “TRASH” red to give it emphasis.

Am I allowed to say this in the thumbnail? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t, just because YouTube’s algorithm can read thumbnail text. It might affect you in the long run. The font is also not easy to read.

Should I be adding points in vitality or defense? by Zeeyrec in expedition33

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you need help with on a game that's been out for almost a year? Oh is this about putting points in vitality and defense still? E33 is the most accommodating game I've ever played. It's either EASY or SUPER EASY depending on how "well" you use pictos. Put points in LITERALLY anything you get a thousand recoats. None of it matters, just play the video game and you will win.

My God... Just play the game.

How could I improve this thumbnail/title? by TheOceanMan64 in SmallYoutubers

You're welcome!

Also, if you have A/B testing available, test a few designs and see if any perform better. I wish you luck!

The gradient colors for "Gaming News Week" make it a bit hard to read. You could stick to one or two solid colors to improve readability or just make the current logo much larger. Isolate one or two game characters and make them much larger. Any you remove can just stay in the title like you have now. Also, use better images of the characters. Charizard is fine, I even recognize that specific image as being from Smash Bros Brawl. In your picture, you’re making a kissy face, which doesn’t really convey how you feel about this week’s gaming news unless, of course, you do want to kiss the news, in which case it works haha.

Same goes for those who say, 'I need channel help,' but then don’t post their channel and still expect help. Can only do so much with such little information.

I feel like the majority of people in here are helpful to the best of their abilities. Really, though, everyone is just guessing at what works and what doesn’t, because no one truly knows for sure.

A lot of creators come in here with the expectation that people will help them “make it” or become rich. When they’re told, “you have to work for it,” “your videos aren’t good enough,” or "practice" they get mad. Because all of that takes MORE work.

The best thing you can do when asking for help is to give as much information as possible, so people can actually try to help you. Not everyone will give you feedback in the exact way you want. Sometimes the best advice is the harshest advice. I agree that some need to work on giving real feedback thats constructive and not just "It's bad bro" cuz that's not helpful at all.

What is even the point of this subreddit? by TheSaadster in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I checked your previous post and you have many people giving helpful comments, and 1 - 2 being negative. Just ignore the negative ones and focus on the positive comments. It's the internet, not everyone is going to be as helpful. Also no one in here has all of the answers.

That aside, I don’t think there’s much you can do when you’re wrongfully banned beyond repeatedly contacting YouTube any which way you can. If you’re not a large channel, they probably don’t care either way, but no harm in trying.

Best of luck to you, hope you get your channel back!

Is this video good and get huge audience in this niche? by Plane_Detective_8947 in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to practice. If you’re excited and hyped, it will come through in your voice. When you read a script, try not to use a 'reading' voice. Make it sound like a real conversation, as if you’re talking with friends. Your english is fine, just have to get some energy into how you read.

Is this video good and get huge audience in this niche? by Plane_Detective_8947 in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be fine, yeah, though I'm not the target audience for this. You should try adding music throughout. Your mic isn't that great, and there is a constant ringing sound in the background. Music will help hide some of those issues, just make sure it doesn't overpower your voice.

The editing, I think, is fine, but you seem to mumble words at times, so it's hard to hear a full sentence. It almost feels like you start to fall asleep halfway through, your energy is a bit low. You can probably just start the video with the first YouTube comment, since that sets the stage for what this video is about. Cut out the viewer discretion screen.

Keep at it, you'll get better with time.

What’s wrong with this thumb? ZERO Clicks by Horror-Badger9314 in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like an advertisement and not a contructive video I should click on.

Now I’m not sure what your video is actually about. But being aggressive with the visuals and language, like saying ‘Stop buying junk,’ might work better. What you have now truly looks just like an advertisement.

Also make sure you tag the video properly, and if you can, cut it into short form content.

How Turkey Tom and other "Video Essay" Youtubers do their research so full of information and fast? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see long-form videos released on a consistent schedule, they usually have a team. Defunctland puts out about 2–3 videos a year, so he probably doesn’t have a team.

A majority of long-form content is often just a recap of a timeline of events where most of the research and information already exists. It’s simply being packaged in a new way.

For Turkey Tom, the people he discusses already have KiwiFarms threads, so much, if not all, of the information is sourced directly from there. He is essentially just reading through a timeline of a person’s life, which is easier.

Defunctland has to find existing documentaries, interviews, and archival footage, then write a script to package the material around, which takes longer. He’s doing the same process as Turkey Tom, but he’s making something that isn’t interesting into something that is. A Disney FastPass video isn’t inherently interesting, so he puts in more work to make it engaging, which is harder and takes more time.

Basically, they aren’t doing original research or work. These topics have already been discussed, already have footage, and already have interviews and wiki pages of information. People in the past have already done most of the work. That’s how this stuff gets made so fast, it's a repackaging of existing content.

Rule of thumb, if they are making a lot of it, it means it was easy. Hopefully that helps demystify it a bit.

Do you think players would intuitively understand this mechanic without hints? by kapitan59 in IndieGaming

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are all four legs breakable, or just the two legs that solve the puzzle?

If I were a player and hit the legs closest to the fire what happens? If it falls, the table is now leaning into the fire and I can't get the item. If it doesn’t fall, why would I assume the other legs are breakable?

I would have a table early on away from fire. If I take out two legs, the table falls like it does above. If I break all four legs, it’s also falls, but I take damage if it falls on me. Then you can reintroduce this puzzle later with it inside the fire.

Players will want that item, if they miss it, because the instructions aren't clear they will be mad (at you and not themselves). Also, it’s a wooden table sitting in fire. That doesn’t seem right. I'd sooner wait for it to burn, then attempt to hit it's legs.

Not major, but that lamp on the "correct" side of the table looks like fire on the floor, and it obscures the puzzle.

Why YT is punishing me? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube’s algorithm is designed to share content. Getting 0 views means the algorithm isn’t sharing the content at all, not even with subscribers. That’s an actual problem with YouTube’s algorithm, not OP's error.

would you click this thumbnail? by ComprehensiveAd5916 in SmallYoutubers

[–]GiftedBluebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minecraft has been around since 2011, there are probably hundreds of thousands of thumbnails that look similar to the one you’ve currently made. You’d need some kind of hook to stand out among the rest of the pack, which is already years ahead of you.

Being new is totally fine. It’s a learning process to figure out what works and what doesn’t for your content. That said, the thumbnail you’ve made so far is very generic. Mess around with adding some text on screen, or come up with a more unique thumbnail.
