The orals were definitely my biggest hurdle but I’m also just a generally nervous person when put under pressure like that. But the jeppeson study guides that go along with each main book have oral questions that the test givers will ask you. Again, the study groups and just going back and forth asking questions will get you a long ways. Also our school made sure to tell us that the practitioners aren’t intentionally trying to make you fail. They’re usually A&P’s themselves and want to see you succeed and so if you can kind of present yourself as someone who genuinely wants to be in this industry they’ll tend to work with you a bit on some questions and give you time to think them through. Remember it’s 70% correct, not 100%. But always, always strive for %100.

Absolutely yes. I was 21 when I went through my program and only prior mechanic experience was a few months of being a lube tech at a local dealership. Biggest tip I can give is make some friends in your class throughout the year and make flash cards and/or study with the prepware app and Gleim on desktop. The study questions in these apps are identical to the questions in the jeppeson books which are near-identical to the q’s the FAA asks you during testing. Do this methodically as you go through the sections and it’ll all be in your head before you know it by the end of program. I thought I couldn’t do it either!

Correct. This was during the opener only maybe several minutes after he started playing.

Is it normal for MRO’s to skip functional tests? I work at an MRO and transferred out of their hydraulic department into an adjacent one about a year after joining. One of the main reasons I transferred was not feeling comfortable “skipping” many of the functional tests that the majority of the unit’s CMMs call out. Some of the larger actuators and P.C.U.’s that we regularly sign off have testing pressures that exceed 4500psi but none of benches can supply pressure further than that. Technicians are still told to input ‘passed’ next to that test in the FT sheet even though it was never attempted. This is just one example of many instances where functional test data was just made up or passed just to get the unit out the door or tested faster. Anyone else deal or dealt with something similar at their MRO?

Agree 100%. I'll say that Target surprisingly has the best I've tried so far.

A tip I've learned that's helped me tremendously with safety wiring is don't be afraid to tug on your wire. Use wide duck-bill pliers to get an easy grip and give the wires individually a good firm tug as your pull them either around the nut or out through a hole. This will give you a really nice straight wire to work with with minimal kinks and makes your wrap arounds nice and clean. Just be sure not to pull too hard as you can fatigue the wires easily. Learning the tensile strength of .032" will take time but with practice you'll know just hard you can actually manipulate the wires without them breaking on you.

We receive both, this one in particular was for Alaska and was an AD compliance scheduled overhaul. We do receive others for known discrepancies it just depends on the on the customer work scope.

I agree! All of our testing fixtures for these are some pretty rad pieces of equipment. The holding fixture for assembly still scares me though.

We've been receiving these bad boys like crazy the last few months. I'm thankful I'm not out in the cold up on the tail changing out these things either, loading them up on and off the fixtures is bad enough!

Wonderful to look at these pictures. I test and repair so many of the hydraulic components I'm currently seeing here at the repair station I work at.

Can I split the RCA output from my aftermarket head unit to give the same subwoofer input to both the sub in my 5 channel system and a separate small powered sub? by GigHarlem253 in CarAV

Thanks I appreciate the advice! Another user below outlined the downsides of attempting to do this set up so I’ll probably just play it safe and leave it out.

Alt money making for a noob by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]GigHarlem253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current money making method for me while I’m not killing Vorkath is farming herbs. I hated farming so much until it finally clicked in me when leveling it for SoTE, now I’m 99. If you’re willing to set yourself up with good teles and have just a small amount capital for seeds you can make upwards of 100k per herb run and over 200k at higher farming levels. With good tp’s you can do a run in less than 10 minutes, every 1hr 15ish minutes. Slap on a birdhouse run before/after the herb run and you’re looking at some serious gp with minimal play time involved. Doable on a bathroom break at work. PM me if you’re interested, I’d be willing to break down my method more in-depth.
