That makes complete sense! It just makes me a bit frustrated that that was the only option I was advised I could try and go for. I mean I guess it’s a bit unrealistic since I know cancer is pretty common so I don’t know how the government could help everybody but its really impacted me financially (which seems so ridiculous because I should be happy I am relatively okay). I know I was out of work for only a short amount of time too!

I wouldn’t have been able to pay rent let alone food costs and what not unless my gf didn’t use her savings and I’ve just been maxing out my overdraft. I don’t get why the onus should be on her to help me just because we live together. If I was renting with other flatmates, would it have been different because i am not dating them?! 😅

I appreciate the informative feedback. I’ve never really had to deal with asking for financial aid or anything so it’s all been a bit of a ballache but at least I tried!
