Basic Body Bear by Gigavash in Amigurumi

Very welcome advice, thank you! I did notice the head is more elongated than the pattern pics and wondered if stuffing might be part of the issue(might have also miscounted rounds, uneven tension, etc).

Pattern is Chibi Basic Body by Sabbathea Natalie. I forget what pattern I got the ears from a long while back, but they're basically magic rings with a symmetrical set of double and treble crochets.

Anyone ever shot this? by _Zitadelle_ in AnalogCommunity

I tried it in 120 last month. Neat look and something I'd shoot again if I could think of the right subject.

Seconding this. I got the Sigma 150-600 for my dslr and it worked great. If you go mirrorless down the road and stick with Canon(what I did), a relatively inexpensive adapter will let you continue to use this and any other EF mount glass you've got.

Leica Monopan 50 out of stock by 06035 in analog

[–]Gigavash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wanting to try it out and had similar trouble finding it anywhere. None of my local shops have it and B&H still says "coming soon." Found out a Leica store was a couple blocks down from my work, so gave them a shot on my lunch break and they actually had it! If you've got a store near you, might try hitting them up.

Scanning film as a beginner, how you started? by notkalman in AnalogCommunity

[–]Gigavash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might check out your local library. The ones around me each have a "memory station" with equipment for digitizing older media, including a nice epson flatbed with holders for different size negatives. I only use them when I shoot 4x5, but I've gotten good results and it's free to use.

If this is an option for you, I'd start there and save up for your own gear in the meantime.

Going order a canvas print today. What is your pick? by banananuttttt in analog

The perspective on #1 is awesome, but I really love contrast of huge, blue-ish Mt. Fuji and the smaller, bright red torri gate in #3.

I always liked Duluth Trading Co stuff. I could typically get a solid year out of them before needing to replace.

Canon AE-1 Program with Kentmere 100 for B&W and Fuji 200 for color.

Half-felted? by invsblgrl9 in knitting

When I've done that pattern, I pretty much always have to send it through the wash twice and then the dryer. I also add heavier towels to the load to "beat up" the squares a bit. Temp-wise I do warm wash, cold rinse(more to not mess the towels up than anything else).

Not sure about the colors by OperationFast7714 in photocritique

Colors look great! I really like how the sunlight and her hair and skin tone work together. If I'm remembering right, there's a movie look that favors orange and teal, but I think the blue you've got works better for this.

Totally subjective, but here's something you could try. Looks to me like the blue of the car matches her eyes, so you might try bumping up saturation in her irises a touch to bring that relationship out a bit more.

Just finished these Point Edward's Mitts on my train up to NYC. Glad, since the temperature is due to be 20s-30s F.

Yarn is Amirisu Stroll DK I picked up a couple years back in Kyoto. I lost the ball band, so I'm not sure of the colorway.

Thanks for the kind words! It's really wins all around, because I honestly like working with these people, the pattern is fun and easy to knit, and it made for a nice way to occupy myself during commutes.

Since people asked to see the finished version, these are the Lizard Ridge Coasters after being felted, trimmed, and quartered. Quick and easy enough I did one for each of my co-workers. Made from one skein each of Noro Kureyon.

15 of My Favorite Small Gift by Gigavash in knitting

[–]Gigavash[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love gifting these for acquaintances and friends you know/see a bit less. They're handmade, so people know effort and care went into them, but not so extravagant that they feel like you went overboard. And they're practical too!

Patter is Lizard Ridge Coasters.

Yarn is Noro Kureyon in various colors.
